Meeting the fans in the parking lot before or after the show is optional and a kindness on their part.
David Cook may have had other obligations that prevented him from meeting the fans after the show.
I can understand the disappointment of the fans but singing is their job, not signing autographs for the fans.

"You do realize that is very rare for the American Idols to come out after the show at all, right? The fans are not notified of no-shows because this is not a part of the concert ticket people pay for. This is just a luck of the moment type of thing. No one tells fans to wait because it is not something that AI guarantees will happen. They will never notify fans on the schedule of their performers so if people wait, it is because they chose to. If they are disappointed, then that is no fault but their own for setting unrealistic expectations.... People need to cut these idols a break and remember they are humans and not a show pony trotted out for their entertainment. "
