Mr. Gamboa is very petty. Jason sang 3 songs wonderfully that night but he just mentions a (non) fumble. If it was not a 'big deal" as you wrote under the You Tube video, why did you make it the sole subject of your blurb about Jason Castro? Hypocrtite much?
Long Island deserves Amy Fisher, Joey Buttafucco, the Lohans, the Gottis and Newsday. All are second rate.
In the same sense, L.A. deserves earthquakes, Brittney Spears, smog, paparazzi, traffic and riots.

"lacks arena rock feel"? What did you think you were going to see? Aerosmith? That's like going to a Broadway show and saying, "gee, it didn't really feel like a chamber music quartet." Duh.

Castro didn't forget the words and Archuleta isn't uncomfortable. He's just not a slick, stylized performer, but a sweet, 17 year-old kid whose appealing aw-gosh demeanor extends to the stage.

Jeez, could Newsday find a more clueless reporter?

You need to correct your article or make your comments viewable to the public at the very least. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

Well, we shouldn't forget that these are NOT professionals, who we are used to seeing in a concert. It isn't any wonder that the performers fumble around some, they aren't seasoned yet, which is what these concerts are intended to do - see which ones have real star quality, or flash in the pan material.

Yeah, tell that to the 10 finalists from the previous seasons. Tell Diana DeGarmo to keep sitting there waiting for that call. Tell Bo Bice, that there is more than country fairs and demolition derbys. Tell Taylor Hicks that he'll be done waiting tables soon. Tell Jessica Sierra that there is more than just celebrity rehab. Tell the girl from Jersey with the nudie picks and Fat ol' Frenchie that, those events weren't their 15 minutes of fame. Tell Ruben and Fantasia that eventually their good looks will keep their careers afloat. Tell Kelly Clarkson that she didn't commit career suicide. Then tell yourself over and over and over that it's only karaoke.
Winning a place on AI is no guarantee that you will become a star. Things are very competitive in music, there are an incredible number of people who can sing, play instruments, and perform. These AI winners have an advantage, but it all depends on how they are received, how unique they are, do they write their own music (a plus), play an instrument? Lots of people can sing, but not everyone is appealing as a star. It is a long shot, even for the winners.

Sorry, but LA has movie stars, beaches, the best weather anywhere, clear skies, palm trees,Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Manny Ramirez. Plus the LA Times has reporters who actually review concerts accurately.

It was a FUN show. They are all talented! I love Jaso Castro and he DID NOT flub any words to Over the Rainbow so get that straight! David A seemed very comfortable and confident to me. He was enjoying himself tremendously. He's such a good soul. He came out after the show also with Carly, Kristy, Brooke and Syesha. They were all very nice. I was disappointed that Jason didn't come out on Tuesday after the show. But I understand. I know he is always the first to come out but there has to be reasons why when they don't. Same for Cook.

The writer of this article has apparently never heard Bruddah Iz's version of Over the Rainbow...there was no flubbing of lyrics when Jason sang it! He sang the song perfectly!!! There needs to be a retraction or correction of this statement.

The concert was fantastic. Each contestant was great, although Ramiele was the weakest. The only downside for me was seeing David Cook with eye makeup on. It looked SO bad.

You're right. Every person you want to meet should conform their lives to fit around your schedule. How selfish of them!
You're entitled to your opinion and I am to mine. He is 'The American Idol' and technically would NOT be where he is today without his fan's help.
Why were all the others gracious enough to come out afterwards and meet their fans? I'm not asking him to come to my house!! A simple hello and a wave would even have sufficed. Instead he snuck away on his tour bus.

I disagree. We voted, we maed him The American Idol. A simple greeting, a wave, or something would have been nice. Or he could have had the security people tell everyone who waited until Midnight that he had to leave. SOMETHING!
Nadia wrote:
The Idols are obligated to sing on the stage and that's it.
Meeting the fans in the parking lot before or after the show is optional and a kindness on their part.
David Cook may have had other obligations that prevented him from meeting the fans after the show.
I can understand the disappointment of the fans but singing is their job, not signing autographs for the fans.

Yes yes yes yes!!
lol That was my daughter crying! She had this planned for so long. Spent weeks planning what she was going to buy for him. This was devastating no matter what some of you think.

The performers get paid very well for the tour.
Ahhh no, not really. The promoters, record company and Fox do.

This is why we need to eliminate all of the above, to put the money back into the pockets of performers everywhere.

Plus the LA Times have reporters who get compensated to actually review concerts favorably.

Manny Ramirez? Don't know much about baseball either I see.

I wonder who this mysterious insider is.
OK - I know people in 'the business' and I also know that when one becomes famous or well known, it is sort of 'expected of them'. It just comes with the territory.

"When you purchased your concert ticket, the only thing guaranteed to you was that idols would sing their songs for your entertainment. That is all. Nowhere on your ticket stub does it say that they will come and sign your posters or take pictures with you. That is something important that needs to be remembered. You did not pay to meet them, you paid to see them perform. End of story. No one told you to stand outside and wait for them. You choose to do that and you can not blame them if your plans did not end up as you wanted them to. "
"You do realize that is very rare for the American Idols to come out after the show at all, right? The fans are not notified of no-shows because this is not a part of the concert ticket people pay for. This is just a luck of the moment type of thing. No one tells fans to wait because it is not something that AI guarantees will happen. They will never notify fans on the schedule of their performers so if people wait, it is because they chose to. If they are disappointed, then that is no fault but their own for setting unrealistic expectations.... People need to cut these idols a break and remember they are humans and not a show pony trotted out for their entertainment. "

TO THE AI TOUR "INSIDER":

You haven't said anything that isn't alreay public knowledge. What I will tell YOU, is that the AI Tour producers do not WANT them doing meet & greets after their shows. It's about control. And these performers who sign up for Idol (There is quite a lengthy BINDING contract) are controlled every step of the way.

Ever wonder why Kelly Clarkson got away from the Idol brand and went out on her own? She wanted control over her career.

So to the disappointed fan, don't hold the artist accountable for this, it's the controlling Idol machine that chooses to keep their product under tight scrutiny at all times.
