Yay David Cook! I hope his career is all he wants and more. And prayers for his brother in his fight, too.

Next season it is going to be only Elvis impersonators. I can't wait for the auditions! That should be real funny. Better than anything the writers can come up with. They should have stayed on strike

You're kidding right, with this post? Mindless waist? I think the word you're looking for is "waste". There's an old saying. "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak up and remove all doubt". Words for you to live by.

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that American Idol has gone down the toilet the last few seasons? Has anyone else also noticed that the singers who go on to become the most successful after the show are the finalists who don't win?
I admit, the show is entertaining. And the finalists all have big voices, but most of the winners just don't have what it takes to make it really big in the commercial world of music. They make a big splash with their debut album while they're fresh off American Idol, but by the following year they are completely forgotten. Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken, and Daughtry are the only ones who managed to keep their names out there. Daughtry was a third runner up on the show and he is, so far, THE most commercially successful.
The big winner from last year, does anyone even remember who she is? Her debut album bombed big time because although she's an excellent singer she isn't very attractive, and she simply wasn't a very interesting entertainer. The same fate will befall this David guy. He can sing, but he has no personality at all. Very ordinary and forgettable act. I wish him well though.
Daughtry is more commercially successful than Carrie Underwood? I don't think so, although I like them both. But she's huge right now and everywhere I look I see her. At the grocery store yesterday I noticed she was on the cover of like five magazines. And damn, she looks a lot better than Daughtry.

It's not a try out for the All-State Chorus (high school vocals), it's to find the all around star. Maybe David will go on the Broadway, if he can acts and open his eyes and play some younger parts before his voice changes (has it?). I'm not saying he isn't talents, but he doesn't have the range or the general musical talent that DC does. If being a success music artist was all about pure voice do you think Bob Dylan would ever have left Minnesota? Or Neil Young would've crossed the border? I think David has the musical depth and breadth to try to new things - like Niel can do from rock folk (Harvest) to countryish (Harvest Moon) to grunge (Rust Never Sleeps). Same with Bob Dylan. Now Paul Simons has a better pure voice but boy is he versatile. In fact, a Paul Simon theme might be kind of cool. I would've liked to have seen what DC, Brooke, Chiquizi, etc. would've picked. Graceland is hard with all the native back up singers. I love "Me and Julio" and "Cecilia". Oh well, Off topic.

All my best to everyone, and especially to David's brother.

David A. may have been the better singer, but David Cook was far and away the better performer. And that obviously mattered to the voters. Although I generally don't pay much attention to the idols after the show is over, I an genuinely interested in hearing the type of music that David Cook will put out.

Just waite til Clive Davis gets ahold of David Cook he will wish he never won American Idol. He is a control freak and won't let David do what he is best at Rock and Roll. Clive needs people he can control and mold them to what he sees fit not their visons. Oh Well.

If you look back at Cook's early auditions on idol it is really clear to see how they were styling him into being a winner. from songs, to clothes, to hair to lighting and accompaniments. Wish him all the luck!!!

Hey MOM, as long as you're giving a class, how about correcting your own errors ?

YOUR; adj, 1 : of or relating to you or yourself or yourselves especially as possessor or possessors <your bodies>, agent or agents <your contributions>, or object or objects of an action <your discharge>
2 : of or relating to one or oneself <when you face the north, east is at your right>

YOU'RE is a contraction of the words YOU and ARE.

Want to retry that comment about who's the stupid one ?

Wait, you're too busy watching that TV masterpiece So You Think You're a Star to be bothered.

If you think that David A was the better singer, please go back and review the season. David A has a very limited talent - small vocal range, maybe 8 good notes total, and he's only capable of carrying the tone if the song is slow paced. He is incapable of singing anything fast paced - he trips all over himself. Last night's performance with New Republic showcased his limitations. He couldn't even attempt the high notes nor the faster paced lyrics. Everytime he came out to sing with the group, the medley would switch to a slow paced song that he was capable of.

I will give him credit for making smart song choices all season that covered up his limitations. He was very effective that way. But slow boring loud balads get boring fast, and an album will not be following from him anytime soon.

All Fans of American Idol know that it is GOOD, CLEAN, POSITIVE ENTERTAINMENT and FUN. Last night's season finale was far better than I thought it would be.

The fact that former Idol winners and top-12 contestants perform and/or are enthusiastic members of the audience reveals loyalty. Yes, someone will say it's a 'part of their contracts', but every lawyer knows ANY contract can be broken. Former Idol winners and contestants love to sing and to hear their Idol-peers sing. And we fans do too.

This season's top-12 finalists are an especially cohesive group --- they genuinely like and care about one another, and they respect each other's talents.

This is the year that rocker David Cook won! I'm glad because he was my choice.

And David A. will not suffer having come in 2nd, and in coming years we shall be able to compare him to who he is today.

This year's finalists all won because of their wonderful voices, big talent, likeability, and because we are so aware that they genuinely like each other. Because of that, they will be a hard group to follow. But American Idol never ceases to amaze and surprise.

And, finally, for those who criticize Idol and its Fans, you have at least 98 different channels to choose from. In the meantime, we like gathering on Tuesday and Wednesday nights to get to see young talent on the rise. You're welcome to join us (or not). But don't criticize because YOU elected to not participate in our January to May 'club meetings'. That's just fine with us. We can get through on the phone lines to vote all the much easier! We pick 'em, and you get the benefit of hearing them on the radio and CD's.
