David (Cook) wins American Idol finale

The best singer won. The voters got it right.

My favorite part of the show was Gladys Knight and "the Pips." Oh yeah, and Simon apologizing to David Cook.

They are both so cute, I was so torn between those two hotties but I'm happy for David Cook.

Funny - I can't recall which David is which!

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that American Idol has gone down the toilet the last few seasons? Has anyone else also noticed that the singers who go on to become the most successful after the show are the finalists who don't win?

I admit, the show is entertaining. And the finalists all have big voices, but most of the winners just don't have what it takes to make it really big in the commercial world of music. They make a big splash with their debut album while they're fresh off American Idol, but by the following year they are completely forgotten. Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Clay Aiken, and Daughtry are the only ones who managed to keep their names out there. Daughtry was a third runner up on the show and he is, so far, THE most commercially successful.

The big winner from last year, does anyone even remember who she is? Her debut album bombed big time because although she's an excellent singer she isn't very attractive, and she simply wasn't a very interesting entertainer. The same fate will befall this David guy. He can sing, but he has no personality at all. Very ordinary and forgettable act. I wish him well though.

the real money maker is carrie underwood and you can bet the way they paraded this year's third runner up last night clive davis is seeing dollar signs with her on his record label.

Well they got it right this year for only the third time since the show started (Underwood,Clarkson).

Archuleta was not commercially viable, and as "cute" as people seem to find him, that would not have caused them to see him in concert or buy an album. Cook I think is probably the only commercially viable singer this season. Syecha (sp?) may have a shot but most of the rest this year were disappointing.

Now if AI could just keep this up. and really have the best singer/performer win. The show won't become such a drag like Season 6 did.

Never watched. Don't care. There is more entertainment on the NASA channel and they just have a camera pointed at an empty launch pad for hours on end.

So happy David Cook won. There was just something very real about that guy, and he's a true musical talent.

David A should have won. OH well both are great singers but i prefer David A.

What a sham!!!! Anchuleta is by far a better singer than Cook. And the two-hour show was a total dissapointment, with ridiculous glimpses at the "Love guru". "Dancing with the stars" was a much better show.

I am so pleased with the outcome. I voted for David Cook.........It was a very close call, but David Cook deserved to win. He is very real and what I consider, A MAN'S MAN.........He is senstive and with feelings. I loved the fact that he went over to David Archuletta and held him around and rubbed his head....You just cannot help but like the man!! I was screaming while I was watching the outcome. Clapping and jumping. I could not believe how caught up in the moment. It was a very exciting season, for shure.

What does "waist size" have to do with it?

i've been a cookie fan since the beginning of the top 12 finals, and even i was very surprised at the disparity in the numbers! i thought certainly that archie would run away with the teeny/tween votes and take the top prize. but i was more than pleasantly surprised that the majority of the voters got it right this year, even though just about any of the top 12 will have successful careers if they so choose to work that hard.(jason castro should want to, but he may not "want" to what with all the memorizing of songs and such...haha!)

just very pleased with the outcome. david cook is truly a class act! huzzah!
