Middletown death possible homicide

I heard from a middletown cop on the scene that he was hit with an axe and they are looking for a fugative with no leads

it's scary to think something like this could happen in a small town. Just when you think that you are safe. What's happening to this world?

I live exactly 5 minutes from where this happened. and it is scary knowing that you aren't safe anymore in a small rural town all i can do is think could that have been me

That is my thoughts exactly!! I'm scared to even go alone around the town now. I have children and it scares me to death to let them alone.

This sounds like somebody had a "grudge" to settle...nothing taken from the home, victim badly beaten....perhaps drug related, perhaps "boinking" the wrong persons girlfriend/wife, etc.

I hope it was someone that the victim knew. That would help to ease the minds of all of us living in the town. I sure didn't sleep well last night. It shows that you have to be cautious in every town you live in, not just large cities. I am praying for that poor family and those sweet kids.

I can assure you this was not drug related unless the perpetrator was looking for something to get money to buy drugs. I have known Mike for several years and have been good friends. Mike was no easy target unless he was ambushed. My bet is there was at least two people involved. I work in Indianapolis and it is nothing to hear about people getting killed. When it happens in a place like the Middletown area which was normally quiet and comfortable to live around, it makes you really wonder what is going on. Mike was one of my closest friends so this really hits home. Unitl people wake up and start cleaning areas up this is going to happen. People just need to get involved and report suspicious activities and parents need to direct their children properly and not the other way around. Prisons should not be the vacations spots many seem to become. The victims have less rights that the person committing the act. When the penalty is severe enough such atrocities will be thought about twice before being done. We take God out of schools, out of most everything and you can expect senseless acts such as this. For me it is very frustrating. Here is now a young widow and two young children who have lost their father. How are they to carry on? This will be embedded forever in their minds. Hopefully between their faith and the help of friends and family they will get by but such trageties are totally senseless. Mike was a tremendous person and a friend who could always be relied upon when needed. I will miss you my friend. I just hope and pray the killers are swiftly brought to the justice they deserve.

I can assure you Scotty, Mike didn't believe in nor did he ever use drugs. He was a person you would have been proud to call freind

The article said he left work and hoped to be home for his school age children after they returned home from school. It seemed to imply that he might have left early for in order to get home for his children as though this was not his normal routine. If it was NOT his normal routine why did it change that day?? Did the mom get home at her normal time?? This is such a sad thing to hear that little children have lost a daddy. I am just thankful, as a mother, that they did not have to be the ones to walk into the home, I could not imagine how tramatic that might be for them.

I think that's what scares alot of people of Middletown is that this isn't a place that you hear alot about things like this. I pray for the family and the kids, but it's put a mark on alot of people. I've talked to alot of my friends, and we are all worried.

You are obviously a insensitive idiot. How dare you speculate that it was drugs or infidelity that caused this tragic event. I can assure you that neither of these could possibly be the motive for taking the life of this wonderful husband and father. It makes me absolutely sick that ignorant people like you feel the need to speak of things you know nothing about. Please keep your comments to yourself. No one wants to read them.

I apoligize if I upset you...I did not say this man was guilty of any of these things,(also not the etc.) but in my experience people just don't walk into someones house, beat them to death, take nothing and then go on their way. As for me being an idiot, that's your opinion...just like what I posted is my opinion and I suggest if you don't like the comments...don't read them. Perhaps you can shed some light on why someone would do this since you don't think it is any of the things I listed.

I am truly sorry for the loss of your good friend...as I posted these were my speculations not facts...I am happy to know that they are just that...speculations. I hope they catch whomever did this soon.

Your welcome...and I sincerly meant no disrespect to the victim or his family, or to Tom and A Friend...being in the "big city" this happens a lot (way to often) and the two reasons I stated are the primary issues. Granted this usually doesn't happen in a small town but when it does, most of the time there is a connection between the victim and the person(s) responsible....what is very frightening that if this is a random act, this monster is still loose and free to kill again. I will keep Middletown in my prayers along with the victim, his family and friends.....if what they have posted about him on this site is true, I would also have been proud to have him as a friend.

Wow, this is a crazy and uneventful thing that would happen in rural Middletown. I grew up and lived in Middletown for many years. There were crazy people who lived there then, but this is beyond those crazies!!! We would leave our doors unlocked all the time, even in the evening. I did not know this family, I have been away from that town for many many years, but I am sure that the residents of Middletown knew them. That is how that town is-know everyone and what everyone is doing. That hopefully is a good thing for this murderer----you will be found, cause they know who you are. M residents know all, trust me, I know. You who did this to this family, I hope that you read this and turn yourself in. This was malicious and an unreasonable thing to do. I hope this haunts you, until you get the courage to turn yourself in. Everything has a reason. Just do the right thing-turn yourself in

I also heard the same thing. I live about 5 minutes from where this happened. It is very hard to imagine something like this happening here. It really hits home. I do not know the family but I think I can speak for anyone that has heard the story or lives in the area that the family is in our thoughts and prayers. I hope they catch whoever did this horrific crime so we all can sleep at night.
