I'd like to know if the fee your asking for is the same as wtwo and other local broadcasts. If it's not then why?Percieved value and real value are not the same in any market.

Go to the cable section of the website and you will see that they are asking for less then a penny a day. I would guess, like most business deals, that each company negotiates deals seperatly. I don't have a problem for any of the local stations being compensaated. I thought we already did.

I am pretty sure I got a letter not to long ago saying rates were going up about a dollar or two for local stations.

Getting yanked is what happens when you ask for a 122-percent increase in your fees. Check out http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/content_display/n... for an unbiased story, not the bull Patrice is feeding you.

It is to bad about Wthi, but its not the end of the world. I can still watch WTHI by unhooking the cable. When T/W been off WTWO comes over channel 2 and WTHI comes in over channel 10

That above link isnt working. I find it hard to believe that wthi wanted 122% increase. Maybe going from zero pennies a day to less than one cent per day would be like 100% increase. But come on time warner, it looks like both companies are going to loose if TW keeps wthi off the air. I'm one unhappy TW customer.

Don't be mad at T/W be mad at WTHI,they need to pay up. I can't remember when, but in the last few years WTHI & T/W went at before, and T/W said we would lose WTHI but they work it out.

How many channels do you actually watch that TW offers in their lineup? All of them? I don't think so. Nonetheless TW pays each of those cable networks a fee to use their signal. And it is more then a penny a day. But once again we have a cable company crying that a local station is making “unreasonable demands” and they are trying to “protect their subscribers from increasing their rates”. If that were true, why are they paying cable networks that have far less viewership than WTHI? Walk into, or call, your local TW office, ask them this question and see what they say.(insert deafening silence here)

You would think that you owned a tv station, and all of your income was based on advertising, you would want to be seen by as many people as possible?
But maybe that makes too much sense.

WTHI stated that they have worked out deals with all major companies. http://www.theindychannel.com/money/17614359/...
According to indychannel's website, the same thing just happened with WishTv and Brighthouse cable. Here's the funny part, WishTv is operated by Lin TV (same as WTHI) and Brighthouse is owned by Time Warner Cable. It seems as though this fight reaches further than Terre Haute.

So in other words TW keeps raising its rates and we get fewer channels.?????? that doesnt make sense. last year i called TW and canceled several things to lower my bill by almost 20 dollars. Now not only is it back to where it was it is even higher and I dont have those channels and now I lose CBS. Something is not right about this.

You will get the same story if you go into T/W. I switched to Dish not too long ago and when I went in there to cancel they gave me some bull**** answer regarding the move, and that WTHI was wanting paid to put the crappy programming on there, mind you this was just a office girl I believe but nonetheless I was a little devistated. I can honestly tell you from my experience, the switch to Dish has been smooth as silk and I am extremely happy with it. Just my opinion though! I will add also that the high def channel lineup is far greater, plus saving myself $20.00 per month with Dish has been a great deal all the way across the board.

Interesting that we pay a fee of $12 per month for the "basic" channels (2-12), which include two PBS stations and two local stations (WTWO and WTHI).

I find it difficult to believe that Time Warner cannot find one penny per subscriber that pays that $12 fee to give to LIN TV.

I looked up that web site it does say 122% increase and it also states that this affects more than just Terre Haute.

LIN TV: Discussions With Time Warner Stalled
The TV group said it expects Time Warner to discontinue carriage of 15 LIN TV stations in 11 markets when the contract expires on Oct. 2
Sept 15, 2008

-By Katy Bachman
Playing hardball with its retransmission negotiations, LIN TV issued a release Monday morning (Sept. 15) that discussions with Time Warner Cable, the second largest cable operator, were stalled.
The TV group said it expects Time Warner to discontinue carriage of 15 LIN TV stations in 11 markets when the contract expires on Oct. 2, including stations in Austin Tex.; Buffalo, N.Y.; Columbus and Dayton, Ohio; Green Bay, Wisc.; Indianapolis, Terre Haute, and Ft. Wayne, Ind; Mobile, Ala.; and Springfield, Mass.
In the event that the two companies fail to come to agreement, LIN TV formed a marketing and promotional partnership with DISH Network to encourage consumers to switch to DISH.
LIN recently reached a retransmission agreement with Comcast, the largest cable operator, as well as a number of other operators. Although terms were not disclosed, LIN reported that its retransmission consent fees increased 122 percent in second quarter this year.
"Most cable operators, like their statellite and telecommunications competitors, now understand and acknowledge that fair and equitable compensation is essential to ensure the viability of local television," said Vincent Sadusky, president and CEO of LIN.

I have an opinion about this but I do not feel a need to say it here. that is just to clear up about that link from earlier what the person saw.

It would not bother me so much that WTHI is not on Time Warner right now, except that WTHI will not allow the people that have Direct TV to have a CBS from another market, like the east or west coast. We happen to have both Time Warner and Direct TV and will not go to the expense to change to Dish Network and we have to have Time Warner for the Road Runner internet for my husbands work, WTHI acts like they care about the viewer, but as always it is the bottom line...$$$$$$$ that speak to them They must be getting $ from Dish Network to promote them so much!!

I personally do not like Time Warner, I think that company sucks. They want way 2 much money for anything they offer period. Why not get the converter boxes (for analog T.V.)and just relax? You dont have 2 have a computer or Dish Network 2 view WTHI signal. The only thing that sucks about getting WTHI from satellite signal is when Dave Wire or Kevin Orpurt come on and tell us were about 2 have insane wind speeds and tornado is extremely possible and then we get a black out signal because the clouds and bad weather wont let it thru.Need to think of safety first for our families right? Oh yeah, for all you suckers out there,go ahead and let T/W gouge you.Because they wont ever stop lmao.Enjoy
