Why does anyone need to go around with a loaded gun, including cross country, anyway? Sounds too much like the character he plays in Get Shorty, like he can't keep reality and an acting role separate.

Normally I'm sympathetic when I hear about arrests or hassles at LAX, because even for average people like me it's hard to lose your dignity that way we do now -- take off your shoes and walk on a filthy, bacteria infested floor (they need those museum booties) barefoot, since many people wear sandals and flip-flops/ slipons to go through the gates; spread 'em and get your privates and boobs patted down in public (I never thought I'd live to see that, back as a kid in the 70's when I believed being an American was special); being kept on hold for hours in a sealed vehicle wihout A/C or toilets or food or water, which would be illegal for a dog. Even if you're lucky and take off on time, they don't even feed you anymore and the flight attendants are like Gestapos.

There MUST be a passenger Bill of Rights. I used to fly a lot but now I refuse to, it's worse than going to the dentist and right up there with going to a free health clinic where you wait all day -- which I've visited with my church groups. Unless you have very low expectations you feel dehumanized every time you fly.

You are so right. Flying these days is like giving up your civil rights. Our so called government has placed us into a dictatorship, under the guidelines that they are "keeping us safe". I served my country for 13 years and I can't believe that when I go on a United States airplane that I'm not treated any better than a criminal.

You're right, Chewsmath, one does feel criminal. It's worse than a free clinic, I take that back -- you do give up all civil liberties, and any arguing with the Gestapo flight attendants (like when they put me in a middle crowded seat although my ticket showed window, and refused to move that person as too much trouble, literally told me to "just shut up or we'll have you arrested) gets you treated LIKE a criminal. No "customer service" is even attempted.

Ironically the last time I few was to India, Nepal and Pakistan 4 years ago, and to the Middle East (Egypt and back from Jordan) 3 years ago, China and Hong Kong 5 years ago -- all after 9/11. NONE of that there -- and in India and in the Muslim countries and N. India, women and children are sent to a separate line from the men, and only once, in N. India -- Srinigar, where they have an ongoing war with the Muslim Kashmiris backed by Pakistan -- was I ever frisked, then in a private booth by a woman, and with her apoligies and politely. No wonder they think we're savages, the way we treat our and anyone's women -- the public patting down of privates, now LAX's virtual strip show in Terminal 5, seem barbarian to them. Not even in Europe do you take your shoes off, but if you're flying an American airline you're frisked (I had several changes of plane there). In Israel you're asked a lot of nosy questions about your whole itinerary including to other countries.

I'm ashamed at what America has become. I would have expected more public outrage, and where's the ACLU? Oh, yeah -- making SURE that babies and old people get the same abuse everyone else does, so as not to "profile," heaven forbid, and give extra attention to the most likely perpetrators.

By the way, they still serve foot on these foreign airlines: basic snacks in India and China, but very politely. In wine, you get wine even in coach. And you can still relax, feel like a human. No wonder Virgin and all foreign airlines are the preference of discerning flyers; I'm sad to say it, but most American airlines (excepat Alaska and maybe 1-2) deserve to fail until they come back TRYING to offer customer SERVICE. We should all boycott them and COMPLAIN, not take it silently.

I used to work for the TSA and that is the laimest excuse all PAX would give us when we found firearms in thier bags. As a gun owner I know where all my firearms are at, locekd in my safe. They should max him out regardless of the circumstances, he's irresponsible and stupid. As they say "Book him Danho"....

For anyone who doesn't know, Dennis Farina was a cop before he became an actor.
