Pray tell, are you a fan of Bill Willingham and the Fables series? Not so much with the mystical titles in the vertigo line- but I collected many of the miniseries, and was a huge fan of Sandman Mystery Theatre, Shade the Changing Man, Kid Eternity, Doom Patrol, the Invisibles and Swamp Thing. I did like the Childrens Crusade storyline that crossed over many of the vertigo titles. There are many people I admire in the comics field, from today's greats, to the people of the old school. Miller, I admire, along with George Perez, John Byrne, writers Chris Claremont and Peter David, and damn near everyone associated with Image comics-among others.

tomtom wrote: <quoted text> Here is the lowdown. The "pro-choicers" are really "pro-abortion". They beleive the "unborn child"(a term they dispise) or the fetus( a term they love) is nothing untill some pagan moment, "the quickening", when a breath is taken. Up until then they have stated it is no more than "snot, mucus and just cells. So when a pro-life person tries to discuss their extreme views, they resort to not discusssing abortion but attacking all of Chirtianity and expecially the Catholics. They use the most vile and filthy language. So while there may have been a civil discussion at some point the wiccans and atheists, who are angry if you call them pagans, just attack Chritians. They hate Chritianity but love to quote the Bible out of context. Two people, CD the gay and Libberfoo the junkie, use their faux judiasm as a pass to attack anyone they want, then cry "anti-semitism" if you respond. LocoLulu claims to be a chiritian prolifer that had an abortion so she could play tennis and has no problems with any abortions and attacks Chritians regularly. If you argue too effectively they gang up and report you to get you banned. It is their way. So there you have it. We who value life are certainly outnumbered but never out thought or out passioned by these proabort pagans. God Bless and protect you in these shark infested waters. Thank you, I'm realizing those things as I read. So, there is some paranoia here? Thinking a poster is another poster? Well, I am prolife, and I think I'm out of here because this place is extremely angry and hostile. No one seems to answer you in a decent manner. Thank you though, for being kind.

If you ever get a chance to meet Peter David, DO IT! The man is one of the funniest and most gracious guy's I've ever met. Years ago,'96 I think?- we hosted him to do a signing for a Star Trek convention, and I had a friend that ran a comic shop. Supergirl # 1 was due to come out in a few days, and I conned him to let me have a few to get Peter to sign. He hadn't seen a finished copy yet - so didn't know what artwork was in it, and took a minute to flip through the book. There's a panel in one of the pages that is just a big, orange "eye", and he burst out laughing, and signed my copy with "I always wondered what happend to Sparky the Wonder Cat" LOL! A year later, in issue 45 he created a scene where an orange cat leaps out of a tree a'la Sparky, only to have Supergirl rescuse him - and leading the cats owner to say "The town isn't ready for a flying kitten". I remember reading that issue and cracking up remembering out conversation!

LiIrabbitfoofoo wrote: <quoted text> He was a great guy, except when he needed money or a fix. That man could fix any furnace, no matter how old it was. He was the only guy we had that could work on the old coal furnaces, and update them to modern oil without having to go to the expense of putting in a new one. Much of what we did was housing for the really poor, so we became almost expert at that time in doing more for less if that makes sense. We'd utilize guys like him, give them a house rent free in exchange for work - when it worked, it was win-win for everyone, taking someone off the street and giving them some pocket money and a roof over their heads, and gave them an address where that they could use to get themselves the help they needed from the government, who wouldn't help them if they didn't have an address. The 80's was a funny time to be in real estate in Baltimore, and an even stranger time to be in an industry of younger people trying to gentrify these kinds of communities. <quoted text> Its a good one. Its another example of gentrification in a neighborhood. You'll read about the murder of Latonya Kim Wallace, an 11 year old that was raped and murdered and to this day her murder remains unsolved. It really captured Baltimore and some of us more than others, because she was found in the yard of one of our neighbor's properties, and a house I was selling at the time became part of the investigation when a tenant we rented to came up missing, and his abandoned house on Newington Avenue was .... weird. It was a very sad case, and one of the reasons I got out of real estate. <quoted text> Exactly. Its an easier trap to fall into than one thinks too, and I speak from experience on that. I was lucky, I came from an educated background and had options, these folks often dont have any, or so few that it seems like none. I loved working at the jail, before we moved to NY because I was able to show a lot of women firsthand that one CAN get out of that kind of life and move forward successfully. Again, so much potential lost. F.C. would have made a good living with that kind of talent. We have a low income housing section in our town. People move here from the city and then get busted for drugs. That pisses me off. They want a chance to raise their kids in a better place but they bring the drug life with them. You can see car loads of punks going in and out of the place and it's easy to guess where they're coming from. I read about the teens who would barely go to school. They want to be on the streets amking money but at the same time they see the squalor they live in because their parents are addicts. I would think that would make them want to go to school. They would want to do better because they learned by example. But that's kids for you. Sadly, for every kid that is saved from the drug life hundreds more are left to carry on the tradition.

Although I doubt she could spell that name with that degree of accuracy. It's someone in hiding, clearly. SSDD! xox I guess that's too bad for her. I'm not interested in being the token atheist. I have my own views on abortion and didn't come here to walk lock step with anyone. I can't support a complete ban on abortion when the issue turns to rape and grave pregnancy complications, and I can't support a total free for all on abortion either so I won't be in complete agreement with most people on either side of the debate. I think it's foolish to be against birth control as well. And I can't support people of religion preaching their beliefs at other people and then not adhering to them themselves. I'm sick of the preaching period. People are free to believe whatever they choose but at least have the honesty to admit that it's faith and stop claiming it's the truth like many here do. I find in real life that even religious folks who aren't intending to be rude will discuss religion as if they have all the truths and facts and I'm the poor misguided atheist who needs preaching and saving. I especially get it at work because many coworkers are Christian. It's really not their job to preach. And I don't preach or promote atheism. I just tell people what I am when they get started on the religious views. Around Easter one coworker took up 10 minutes of my time going on about how much Jesus suffered for us and I simply stated I'm not a Christian so I got a lecture about how I needed to believe to get to heaven. It should have politely ended when I indicated I wasn't a Christian but it didn't. I'm just getting tired of pushy religious people. They should put the time into working on themselves instead.

The Holy Ghost is "vernacular" form the old English. There seems to be no need for a correction, and I'm sure many Christians would understand the reference, and it was once the common usage. Seems you're being a bit picky. "For the majority of Christians, the Holy Spirit (prior English language usage: the Holy Ghost from Old English gast,“spirit”) is the third person of the Holy Trinity—" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Spirit
