Iggy wrote: If Supernova is to have any longterm success, they seriously need to let him write most of the music. I'm unimpressed with what I've heard, and original tracks I've found online, written by Lukas are vastly superior Iggy I am 100 per cent with you on this one. Lukas should definitely be given the writing chores. If the other guys want to collaborate then fine, but I am hoping that they will recognize that they got much more than a unique (albeit strange!) and talented vocalist. Speaking of strange, now let's talk about your namesake.(Iggy Pop) Now THAT is one STRAAAAAAAANGE mofo right there, and he took over front man duties for The Stooges from another guy named Scott Richardson WHO WAS one of those one dimensional pretty boys. They were going nowhere fast until Iggy took over.

Whether Rockstar Supernove is for real or not, is irrevalent. Lucas Rossi is for real. Personally I'd rather not see the same old boring crap that we've seen for 20 years. At least Rossi is something different. Sorry joey, Rossi is rock and roll. The fact that you are stuck in your rut proves it. Great R&R by definition must break new ground and at the same time make those that came before....a little uncomfortable. If RSSN had come along and not given all of these people the chance to express their opinion on this TV show, no one would be going crazy over this. If RSSN just showed up one day with a new talent named Lucas Rossi and said "OK world, here we are and we are gonna kick some stuff up", we all would have said ok, what ya got? We would have bought the CD, seen the shows and probably liked it. The lesson....never let the public help you choose your band members. It's the bands gig, not the publics. It was their call to pick the guy....not yours. Out

Err, I don't think so. Lukas Rossi showed no songwriting chops in the show that remotely suggest he has anything like the talent of the sadly departed Cobain - one of the best songwriters of the past two decades.
Yes, Lukas Rossi is 'different','unusual' and all the other things that have been mentioned on this board. He has a very distinctive vocal style and it was quite a bold move of the band to choose someone who sings - as has been suggested elsewhere - as though he has marbles in his mouth.
I was surprised Jason Newstead warmed to him, because frankly those marbles stayed put throughout the series. Unfortunately the evidence of the show suggests that Supernova is going to be quite an average band that is going to perform distinctly forgettable songs.
From what I've seen and heard, Lukas is likely to bring very little to the party in terms of songwriting - some of the other contestants had written far more memorable material. And that's what Supernova will need if they are to be anything more than a one-night novelty act.
As for Lukas Rossi - yes, he's very 'Rock n Roll' and very different. Music does indeed need a kick up the ass every now and again.
In my opinion he just needs to be in a different band - something suited to that angsty style of his (interesting that he went for the likes of the Verve and Coldplay as songchoices). If he was fronting say a heavy version of a band like Radiohead, I suspect the results could be fascinating.
Btw, I didn't think that any of the contestants were quite right for the band. But hey, it was a very entertaining series.

I actually miss watching Lukas sing each week. He has such passion. Problem is I love to "watch" him. Although I absolutely love his voice, the jury is still out as to how good Supernova will be and whether I will purchase their music. Time will tell. And I don't believe Lukas will ever return to Hooters, unless of course he's in the mood for some buffalo wings & boobs.
