""" but for the state's oil producers, and state government, the drop in crude oil prices means less money coming in."""" " SO WHAT, GO earn it like the rest of us and quit benefiting from the rest of us who pay out the ass while you big shots eat caviar and drink wine and spend money OF OURS and by the way what are the govt and state spending OUR money on from the hi oil prices anyways? Gas was 129 a gallon on sept 11th at 8 am, its been 179 all the way to 389 since, WHY? Lets go back to the way we were on that day, low gas prices, low food prices, low clothing prices etc and also our state and govt were doing just fine before gas went up in 01. So enough of the "its hurting us" bullchit!

Lets see, when gas was over 3.50 a gallon it was widely reported at how much this was hurting the Oklahoma economy. Police, fire, school buses, airlines, generally people who were all having to cut back because we couldn't afford it. Now they are saying if prices drop more its going to hurt the economy? Thats a bunch of bull. I realize the economy is a very complicated entity but people not hurting as much while filling their tanks can't be anything but good. It just disgusts me to hear that they are going to be "hurting" if prices continue to drop. The lower the price, the more people can afford to get out, go on vacation, shop at stores, eat out, get to their jobs....its a good thing and say your prayers that the price continues to fall!

A big AMEN! to all three posts above..You all said exactly what I was going to. I hope the bottom drops out of oil and its down to $30 a barrel. Maybe then I can afford to drive my little girl to piano practice again, turn the cable back on, hell may even be able to afford internet again. All the little things that I had to get rid of just to make ends meet (on top of a second part time job).

I would settle for a BALANCE where no one is in a hardship. The oil company can go back to making NORMAL profits and we can all afford to go out once in a while.

My concern is what will happen if they slow production because of low oil prices. If they don't get much money off a barrel of oil will they stop production. I want my gas cheap too, i just don't want to get into a crisis where I can't get the gas I need because production has stopped.

Wo is me. That proves that Mr. Bartlett does not give a d-amn about the consumer. All he cares about is his pocket. Believe me, the state will come up with money some other way. I have never seen the (not) great State of Oklahoma not find a way to scre-w the public. Mr. smiling Keeton sure did.

It's not so much that production will stop. It will slow a bit though. The most worrisome factor would be less exploration and job lay-offs/elimination. Fuel taxes at the pump won't change regardless of what oil does. That's all fixed into the gallon. Where it will hurt is income tax and retail tax from spending.

what really ticks me off is gas right now in OKC is 2.33.... QT has kept the Tulsa market 25 to 40 cents above OKC for the past couple of years.

Mr.Mike Qt spokesman can only say "no comment". And that they are different markets...LOL

What's the difference? Except the fact local retailers don't want to compete against QT. That's the only difference...

Our beloved summer blend that QT forces on Tulsa is the same blend OKC uses.

The media has reported that station owners try and stay within the 10 cent per gallon rule... That happens in OKC. But QT likes to stay in the 25 to 30 cent rule per gallon profit...

Well it seems logical to me that if we can save enough money on our gas and everything the high gas prices have caused to increase like food and everything that is trucked in we might be able to afford to actually purchase more of the things we have had to stop purchasing because we could no longer afford them, turn our thermostats back to a comfortable temperature got out to eat once in a while and the economy might actually benefit from it??? and the wealth might be spread around a little instead of every dang dime going into the oilman's pocket.

Oil is what drove this economy to bust, not Wall Street. NOW is the time to step in a regulate oil and gas with the same regulations as utilities that must be approved to raise prices. Oil and gas should be considered being the same as utilities, not free enterprise. Do it NOW while its under control. If they dont, next year will be the country's doom and nail in the coffin.

It all just p.o.'s me. Yes, we are seeing the price of gas come down, but food, clothes and other mandatories are still sky high. If you can even get them. Lately in Wal-Mart I have noticed that there is not as much food on the shelves (if not even bare). That scares me as well as not being able to get gas.
