Well duh! Attendance was down because you had to sell your 1st born to be able to afford to go....I find it inconceivable that some people save money all year to go to the stinkin fair. What a rip off for them, there are so many other things to do as a family for a heck of alot cheaper.Okay, that was my rant for the night. Tee Hee/JK

We didnt go cause we did not want to fund thieves and scoundrels like the Murphy's. They are nothing but greedy little no good people who like to put others out of business to benefit from their profits. I would much rather drive to OKC to their state fair or to their white waters then touch anything of the Murphy's.

Had a blast...my oldest son rode his first ride, which was awesome. I will never take these experiences away from my children just because of politics.

I'm with Lazybum, just a little over a week ago NewsOn6 reported attendence was up but people were spending less. Having TPD tow off cars who parked along local neighborhood streets was a real smart way to increase attendence. Saying your just enforcing parking regulations is less than honest. You want to enforce parking laws you have meter maids write tickets. You don't have people towed so that the next sucker who has parked along that street for years while attending the fair will come and park there so you can hit them with fines/towing/impound charges. And finding out that one side of that street wasn't even supposed to have 'no parking' signs but saying people should have paid more attention?'Protect and Serve' much? That was the straw that convinced our family to stay away. Tulsa and Tulsa residents are getting the leadership they voted for.

The numbers that the fair board feeds the news media is a bunch of bunk. After going this year... you will never make me believe that the fair had very many people that went or that spent very much money.
The fair board wanted to change the face of the fair and they did. They took all the flavor and soul away when they chose murphy brothers over Bell's. I hope they change back for the 2009 Fair. It would make for an incredible celibration!

Unfortunately, it was politics that prevented you from sharing Tulsa traditions like Bells with your kids. The head-in-the-sand approach doesnt work.

Were gooing to see a lot of county mismanagement come to light in the next few months/years with the changing of the guard.

We didn't go and I am glad! The fair has changed ...... for the worse! Too high of price to get in! I don't want anything to do with the Murphy Bros rides! It is apparent that the fair boards is trying hard to make this a Tulsa-Murphy Bros fair!

Hey since this is October has anyone checked to see if Big Splash has paid their rent? Big Splash rent is due in October.

And what is the fair grounds going to do with the big space when the Drillers leave? I bet the Murphy Bros were planning to put in their own version of Bells - which is why they got Randi Miller to kick out Bells.

I didn't go to the fair and I am voting for Sally Bell to keep the Tulsa Fair Board and the Murphy family from taking over anymore of the Fair!

As for me and my house we vote.......and our vote will go Sally Bell and my money will not go to the Tulsa Fair!

I didn't care for Bell's anyways...they had rides that needed to be inspected big time. I will be attending every year along with my boys. Politics are the last you think of when your at the fair.

It sounds like their business plan isn't any better than Bell's plan was. At least Bell's knew how many people road Zingo.

I love the immediate defensive comment "...we don't steal." - No one said you did, Mr. Andrus.

The Tulsa World is now reporting that the fair lost money this year. REVENUES may have been up, but profits were apparently nonexistent. I hope KOTV will follow up on the story, get the facts straight, and realize that "revenue" is not the same as "profit."

Im going to have to hear about some serious reforms before I go back.
I dont mean more asphalt and lights, I mean some changes in the fair board and county government.

For many, many years I have seen a system that is obviously open to theft at the fairgrounds. And this is being done at all kind of events - the car show, the home show, the boat show.

When you but a ticket at the door, it is not pulled from a 'roll', it is a loose, separate ticket. You give this ticket to a ticket taker a few feet away. THE TICKET IS NOT TORN IN HALF!!!!!!!!!

Any nuber of these untorn tickets can then be recycled back to the ticket office and re-sold. The seller only needs to remember how many re-cycled tickets have been sold, and pull this amount of cash out of the register.

I've seen this for dozens of years, and is one reason I do not like to go to the fairgrounds. I think that hundreds of thousands of dollars are stolen each year from Tulsa county. I think there are several people that have gotten very rich with this scam. The ticket sellers and takers probably don't keep much of it, to keep it going all these years, there must be a structure that controls this, with money flowing up thru the structure.

It could easily be stopped. Require that ALL sold tickets be torn. Have beginning and ending counts of ticket numbers, from the 'rolls', logged daily, giving an accurate count of people buying tickets. Audit the cash boxes daily againist the ticket counts. Thiefs are stopped. The county will see a massive increase in revenue.

Not about politics their rides are not safe and druggies and pedophiles run the rides.
