I will not buy another Chevrolet, or any GM product. Too unreliable. I can't keep them out of the repair shop.

The average union worker at the big three makes $73.00 per hour, with benefits. Non-union workers in Mississippi make $44.00 per hour, with benefits. To me, it seems that if the big three wanted to make a change, go to non-union shops. This will save them approximately $1,500.00 per car in the U.S.

Once they do that, have them come back to Washington with tin cups in hand, begging for a handout. Maybe then, we taxpayers will listen!

Wow, the sales at my business are down more then 5% from last year too. Can I have some tax dollars to bail my business out too?

STUDID, STUDID, STUDID!!!!

Let them fail, someone will pick the pieces up and they will be better then before because of it...

There's too many damn cars in the US anyway, we could do without new ones for a year and no one would be walking.

Seems the only good car any of the three make is the police interceptors. They go through heck with the departments trying to tear them up then they end up in gangsters hands and last through drive bys no oil changes. unsafe modifications and still keep going. I wish they all made cars like them

Perhaps the big three executives will not each take their own private corporate jet to beg for money this time. Maybe they could "jet pool" and all ride in the same jet?

Hey, they could always get to Washington on a public airliner. Or, a more novel idea, they could all carpool in one of the cars that they have in surplus from the production models that are not selling. Hell, I bet no one would begrudge them if they all went in a luxury model.

I think Richard Roberts needs to send the Big 3 a prayer towel and let them cry into it.

True, BUT you have to abmit, car dealers are not at the top of the good business ethics list. Maybe at the bottom of the list.

These are large companies. No different then any other industry or corporation. Why should we give them our tax dollars? If they can't make it on their on, then they need to go out of business. Trust me, there will be automobile makers in the future and they will be succesful, without the government giving them money.

I think a trend is starting. It won't be long before there is a line of CEO's standing in line at capital hill for their corporate wellfare check. Give one company money, you might as well be prepared to give them all money!

I am trying to become the first of the third generation dealers in my family's business- a dealership my grandfather started in 1974 and my dad and uncle have diligently worked in for twenty plus years to grow. I am absolutely fearful that my dreams will be dashed before I even get my shot to offer you a great place to buy, trade, and service your car.
Please don't be so distasteful in your remarks about dealers screwing people- if you only knew exactly what we spend just to keep the doors open and our franchises in tact, maybe you could appreciate our plight a little more. To offer you a real figure, a large franchised dealership with 100 employees can potentially clear a million dollars plus a day in and out of the bank. That is revenue and expenses including payroll, not profit. It is advised that a dealer's margin remain about 20% net, when (if you are a GM dealer) can run well less than 5% to a net loss. And customers wonder why we are reluctant to offer employee discounts and sell our cars for invoice. You can't stay afloat operating a negative cash flow.
By the way, keep in mind your feelings next time you decide to have any involvement in a club or team that has sponsorships from the local dealerships- that money would have to be dirty in your eyes since it was earned at the expense of others. Too bad people actually think that way.
By the way- the dealers will be the ones to suffer in this mess. The Big 3 and the UAW will hord any money they receive and pass very little if any at all to dealers, so get your facts straight before you begin running your mouth.
