Like the government needs one more cent. If it looks like a tax, smells like a tax, even reomtely reminds me of a tax... I vote no. Just as I happily voted no in this election. I have a crazy idea: make the government earn some fiscal responsibility.
We pay 8.5% in sales tax alone... not counting property tax (which mine went up despite the supposed housing bubble burst and buyer's market), yet I drive over chug holes on the major expressways every single day. That bike trail (all 1 mile of it that is finished) along 21st and riverside is nice and luxurious... and we have an eye-sore uber-modern arena under construction downtown that is supposed to revitalize Tulsa. I can't wait to never see Celene Dion or whatever crappy act that place is supposed to lure into town. The local governemt hasn't even begun to corruptly and irresponsibly distribute the money from Vision 2020, and the hand is already out asking for more.

I vow to vote "no" on every single request to increase taxes until the streets are repaired. No more school bond issues, no more Vision 2025-esque projects, nothing.

I want my streets fixed, by God.

Keep that anger going...it is going to take a lot more of us though. You see, we keep on electing those irresponsible toads. None of us hardworking folks will be able to attend anything in that fancy arena. Tickets will be in the hundreds $$$ and all our money go to tires and shocks...aint got no roads to get there.

Finally, other people have gotten wise to the idea that raising taxes doesn't fix our problems. The trouble is that we vote against something that we don't want to pay more taxes for and the powers that be just keep having us vote over and over, wasting our money on elections, until they finally get it passed. Wonder how long it will be before this issue comes up for another vote.
