There is no report of someone on a cell phone, etc., in this story causing the firetruck to go out of control. No, I don't like people talking on cell phones when driving, changing DVD's, or whatever it is that makes them inattentive. But, before all kinds of comments are made regarding what "might" have happened, maybe everyone should wait for the "official" statement by TFD as to the cause.

Councilor Patrick's son, one of 3 firefighters involved in the accident this morning in which a fire truck flipped over on Gilcrease Road, is okay as are all of the firefighters.

When I read it, it gave very little information. It said nothing about a car pulling out in front of the firetruck. All it said was that the firetruck failed to negotiate a curve, hit a telephone pole and a pick up.

I agree with "Common Sense". We can only thank the TFD and TPD for all their hard work and dedication. They work 24 hour shifts to save our lives and here we are bickering back and forth about an incident that everyone keeps assuming things about. My boyfriend works for TFD and was called to the accident. I don't know the whole story as of yet however we need to be praying for the firefighters that were injured. They are so brave to get out there everyday and risk there own lives for the sake of ours. My heart belongs to a firefighter and it would kill me if he were the one injured and all people were doing is bickering back and forth instead of praying that he will be ok. So I just ask that this stop and just pray for them to come out ok.

I can't believe what I'm reading. What in the world does all of this name-calling and insults have to do with these poor firemen who were injured while doing their job, protecting the citizens of this city?

Go BABS, there are some stupid illiterates out there, who should be praying For the firefighters instead of "preying" on other readers. Sheesh. What has it come to ? I wonder if ANY of them have ever had an accident, only to find the TFD to be the FIRST to respond ?

the truth about firemen

I know someone really high up in the Tulsa Fire Department. These firemen try not to hurt anyone. If a truck pulls out in front of them they think "We have to miss these people or else we are going to kill them in this big truck." At some point they know that it may come to saying someone else's life for pulling out in front of them. So therefore they will have to sacrifice their truck and also themselves. They all know that some people will pull out in front of them. For me, which is a complete lack of respect for their job and how many people they help a day. People pull out all the time but this time may have been so close they thought it was better to hurt themselves than kill that person for simply pulling out in front of them. The facts are there and who is to say that they were in fact trying to save the life of the person who pulled out in front of them while sacrificing themselves.

You were probably chasing the firetruck and part of the problem. People like you create problems for firemen, cops, and ambulance drivers all over our city.

There are plenty of stories about Tulsa Fire Fighters saving lives, fighting fires, and going above and beyond to help the citizens in the news everyday and even today's news. However, nobody takes the time to make an appreciative comment to the firefighters but they are quick to comment negatively about a serious accident. Everybodies problem is...trying to point fingers at whose fault the accident was. Does it really matter?????!!!! I'm pretty sure that when TFD shows up at the scene of your accident (and I assure you that they are the first ones to show up) they aren't worried about whose fault it was. They are concerned about the citizens safety. Nobody realizes how great of a job the Tulsa Fire Department does and their heroizm gets overlooked and is expected of them. But, they do so much more than what is required of them. Please keep your hateful comments to yourself. It wasn't my husband involved in the accident but if it were and I saw the rude comments left on here I would be devistated.

My boyfriend is also a paramedic with the TFD. He is a first responder and I should have said fire fighter/paramedic. We are thankful for all workers involed whether fire fighter, EMS, Paramedic, Police officer...they all risk there lives and put us first. My apologies for not adding them into my message because they are definitely just as equally involved.
