1 My sentiments exactly. Maybe the heat the citizens put on her made her fight a bit harder. My question is this was this checked out prior to laying them off? As you stated we need to get the copters back up and running now. |

Only three won't be rehired? What about the three remaining officers? There must be some way that they can be rehired also, since there seems to always be enough money for other things that aren't near as important as the city's safety.

My other question is the same as some other posters what about the other 3? Surely they can find the money to bring them back. While I am thrilled that 18 are coming back the city needs to somehow look under every rock to find the money to bring the copters back and the other three officers. This though in no way answers all the questions people have been asking regarding the spending of money. We aint going away mayor, and city council.

1 Get the witch out of town. She did nothing! What a publicity stunt and a final chance for more photo ops... |

I agree that the mayor probably didn't have much to do with this but like I said people keep the heat on we still have alot of questions that have to be answered like how did we get into this mess to start with. Just be happy hatat leas 18 got their jobs back.

1 The city got approved by a DOJ grant to hire 18 new officers, but Tulsa would have had to pay for the academy, equipment, etc which they could not afford. So, the city had to get the money changed from hiring new officers, to re-hiring laid off officers. However, to do that, the officers first had to be laid off in order to show the federal government that Tulsa was hurting for money and really needed to use the grant for this purpose. That is why the officers were laid off before the grant had been approved to re-hire them. The three will most likely be re-hired in short order, but it will have to be done with negotiations between the city and the FOP. However, the grant had to be approved first. Again, if the city had re-hired three, the federal government might not have approved the grant because the city would have shown that it still had wiggle room to negotiate. Does any of this make any sense? Just what I've been able to read between the lines. |

1 I wouldn't kid yourselves for a second...this deal wasn't fought for by the queen. She knew from the get-go this was the plan. This is just her way of getting the fed.gov to pay for 18 officers we already had on the payroll. You see, the fed funds required the city to hire 18 NEW officers - in addition to what they already had on the rolls - 18 additional officers that are greatly needed. However, the queen knew all along that there was a provision in the fed grant that said the money could be used to retain officers if layoffs were imminent due to budgetary constraints. She laid them off just so she could beg the feds to use the money to rehire them and avoid hiring the 18 new officers the money was supposed to be for...she's got a forked tongue people. |

Well she managed to help get the 18 back on the streets, hopefully like the other posters they will find a way to get the choppers back in the sky...I am sure there is something they can do to find more money! |

"who were scheduled to be let go on Wednesday."
Quote from the story. So nobody has lost a job yet if the story is correct. 3 may lose their jobs but remeber there are several officers being investigated right now, according to the Tulsa world. Makes me wonder if/when anyone has been laid off. Channel 8 reported that dispatch was already telling people they are short handed anyone know what's going on? |

Well, I am glad to hear that the majority will be rehired!, they said there going to interview one of the laid off cops, hopefully its the guy that broke down in his interview when this first came up, hopefully he will be a happy man.....he is the kind of cop that seems to be in it for all of the right reason! And I still think they need to look into taking patrol cars home! If that is eliminated then we may get our choppers back in the air!

If anyone was to post the truth on here you would have to read real fast. When people even asked what was happening with Trooper Martin Kotv almost broke their necks trying to delete the post. |
