Authorities Still Searching For Tulsa Fugitive

It was an illegal search that got him arrested, so maybe he felt they owed him one?

He sure doesn't look 59 in that picture.

Andy, I think if you read the story again you'll come to the conclusion that he's been on the run for over 20 years. It's safe to say that the picture of him with the Tulsa buildings in te back ground is probably 20+ years old.

I know Andy, and why didn't the photographer think to grab him when he snapped the photo?!

I cant believe this actually came back up in the news. He was a former teacher of mine when i was a sophomore. He was arrested my junior year on the charges... We couldnt believe it. He was the best teacher I had..

It was a legal search. The police came to his door and knocked. He opened the door - They were to arrest him on unpaid parking tickets. He invited both of them in to his home. One escorted him to get his shoes and the other was told to wait in the living room. In PLAIN view he was growing marijuana. They arrested him and went to a judge about a search warrant on the drugs. THey were granted that and upon searching for drugs, they found the pornographic material. They were issued a search warrant for the pornographic material and he was subsequently charged for all the above..

the saddest part of this entire ordeal was the fact the girl in question told her mother she was going to school and never went - she killed herself in her garage that morning and her mother came home from work to find her.

He was a great academic teacher that committed multiple crimes which led to the death of a wonderful 15 yr old girl.

I do hope they find him and make him pay for his crimes...

I was in 9th grade at North Intermediate when this all went down. What's sad is that they let him out on bond to begin with. The IRONIC part was this guy was a Street Law teacher!

Some of these Judges are idiots. If there was any reasons for someone to be a flight risk, this was it.

There were many rumors and what not around Melodie's death. Still don't know what REALLY happened there either!

No one can ever be sure of that, but we can be sure that he took the photos of her, and that certainly couldn't have helped her mental state.

No, he was NOT growing marijuana in plain view in his living room. They found that in his basement after an illegal search.

It does not matter now if the search was legal or not. He admitted his guilt by running. Nothing says hey I did like running to another country and not comming back. Personally as the parent of a child that has been asaulted by one of these sick sob's, I say wo cares HOW they got their search done, if they found child porn of any kind then they need to hang him high....Done and over with...

I was also in school there during all this. I definitely remember all the rumors floating around after the suicide. She and I didn't hang out with the same people, but we did have a class together when this happened. She was a sweet girl. Does anyone REALLY know what the true story is between her and Lyons? I read an article once on the Tulsa World. From what I got out of it, her mom didn't act like he had much to do with her suicide.????

Whether it was in his basement or his living room - He invited them in.. He was under arrest for an unpaid parking ticket... He had a potted plant growing in the house... They saw it - Got a warrant -- and then searched the house...

I have studied this case -- I also taught law and as a class we discussed this case in detail...

Legally if something is in plain view, NO warrant is needed!! If it is true and the police were invited in, all they had to do was see it and it would be a legal seizure of evidence.

He was my teacher in 1982 and I really liked him. BUT what they say he did is true and there was more than one girl he took pictures of but only one killed herself and another family left town. For what he did he should have gotten more than 9 years. I personally dont care about the drugs but for what those girls and families went through he should get manslaughtrer. Also in all the pictures you can not tell but he lost an eye when he was younger and now has a glass one.
