It will be closed in less than a year. The north Tulsa community bad people will walk in and walk out with unpaid items. Too many thugs up there.

I totally agree. But I guarantee you within 1 month of openeing they will rob it. The north side has proved over and over all they know is stealing, killing, living off of the state,.....it will be only a matter of time and it too will be closed down. And that's sad, but its the only way of life they know.

If it goes under because of all the stealing, is it up to the city to find another sucker to put in another one?

Let me be the first to say that just MAYBE, since they haven't had a grocery store in North Tulsa for awhile, the thugs and thieves will leave it alone. NAH! What was I thinking?

Shop Lifting is really the number one problem with that area. Albertson's had a terrible shop lifting problem...

Why is it the responcibility of the mayor to get a store to open in a bad area? You rob and steal and no one will be able to operate a buisness in your neighborhood.

Everyone has something to say about North Tulsa.... but they really only know the half stories they hear or read. I live in north Tulsa and I feel I deserve a grocery store. I shop in Owasso because the city of Tulsa doesn't deserve my money because of hypocritical people such as the one's who replied before me. Why is it there are security guards in stores in south and east Tulsa? even in Collinsville? Apparently theft happens in other places besides North Tulsa. Since there are bad apples in all parts of Tulsa I guess we should close down all the stores, strip malls, and even Woodland Hills mall. For you people to be so smart you don't have a concept of what logic is. I live in north Tulsa and I am proud to be here. I have never stolen a thing in my life not because I fear jail but because the Holy Bible told me not to.

Also....why isn't our sorry city counselor, Jack Henderson, mentioned in his article? If I did have to agree with one thing on here that outsiders said about north Tulsa.... it would be that Henderson is old and must go. We need someone progressive in NOrth Tulsa!!

Was it because of shrinkage (thefts) or your money up there is worth less than anywhere else in Tulsa? YOU TELL ME! WHY did the biggest store in North Tulsa, who by the way didn't have much, if any, competition, just decide they couldn't afford to stay open?

How about the community take some pride and show the rest of the City that North Tulsa is willing to make the first move to show us it cares? How about calling the cops and turning in the gang bangers who shoot each other and sometimes innocent bystanders? Don't expect sympathy until you begin to show your community deserves it.

I agree, it truly is about time that something is done to help those of us who live in North Tulsa and cause no harm. I'm truly sorry to burst the bubble of those of you on here that seem to think that north Tulsa doesn't need a store because "they" steal. Well let's see.... I have worked in retail in some of the high end retail stores here in Tulsa, and it wasn't the blacks that were getting caught stealing. Truth of the matter is this, there are bad people in every ethnicity. Don't try to label all of us as bad... You really never know who's going to be the person that you are going to need some day. When you're sick do you care who takes care of you, when you need food, do you care who prepares it for you, when you work, do you care who signs your check, or when you hit the light switch at home do you care who helpS to make that happen? Just a thought. Some of those people that do these things live out north and just happen to be African American... There are nurses, business owners, doctors, home builders, engineers, restaurant workers.... the list goes on... that live in north Tulsa. For those of you that think we are all poor... these nice houses out here don't pay for themselves. Take time to really come out here and learn North Tulsa and not just judge us all based on the news. There is a thing called framing... but see most of you are too busy talking crap and coming up with your own conclusions to REALLY do your homework. If those living in south Tulsa deserve something as simple as a grocery store, why don't those living in north Tulsa deserve the same? One report indicates 61000 African Americans live in Tulsa and 248000 Caucasians... do the math, not all of the problems are coming from blacks.

I would agree that Roscoe has done a lot for the members of the city he represents.... I can't say the same about Jack Henderson... standing up and yelling or yelling racism for that matter doesn't mean you are doing something. Those are just words. As far as sympathy ..... you can keep your sympathy to yourself... you'll need it before I will. I only ask for empathy... or the understanding of the situation for those of us who obey the law in North Tulsa. Besides... West Tulsa is in the same predicament... wouldn't you like something besides a Warehouse market? I mean just because I'm from a different side of town doesn't mean I would like to see growth in all of Tulsa.. nor does it mean I point out all the problems such as meth labs that are found in West Tulsa... you know the side of town that has had the most meth labs discovered for 2 years in a row. I guess that means you guys need to show some responsibility too.

As far as grocery stores go, I just assume that when the bigger ones decide they can make a go of it, they will open one here. Why did Albertson's in North Tulsa close?

It wasn't just north Tulsa. The problem with the situation is that no one wanted to take a chance on the north side of town. I mean, really have you seen the stores that picked up albertson's? Reasor's was the only "Tulsa native" store. The others had the news, just as most of you have the news. And further more, where do you think those that aren't going to Owasso go to shop... are those stores going out of business... I mean.... most of you on here said that it would only take a year or so.... those that are shopping in south Tulsa have done so for over a year now! One more thing... I've lived in West Tulsa.... I was scared... I had more negative encounters there than I have anywhere! And as for South Tulsa.... I've lived there as well and had issues with the kids vandalizing cars.... That was in the Mansions on Riverside.... I said that to say this. If I had a camera and airtime people would be afraid to go anywhere and do anything. Just a thought.

I too don't see the store lasting - that is unless the north Tulsa Citizens do something about what is happening in their neighborhoods. One person said they "deserve" a grocery store. What about the people who open the store? Don't they deserve to have a store that don't get robbed all the time? Don't their employees deserve to be safe when they are at work? You want a store and keep it you are going to have to earn it. Someone robs it - TURN THEM IN. Prove to those little thugs you won't tolorate their behavior anymore. As long as you refuse to cooperate you don't deserve anything but what you have right now - nothing. The same nothing you will always have until YOU change it. We can't do that for you. If you want change bad enough you will make it happen.
