These have got to be the biggest crybabies in the city.
No other department is as pampered as they are, and the FOP has gotten too powerful.

Mayor Taylor - if you want to really save the police department start with your own staff.

From the Tulsa World Website listing the current salaries of the mayor's assistants:

DURKEE JR, JOHN V MAYOR'S ASSISTANT $95,000.16

HUCKABEE, MARY P MAYOR'S ASSISTANT $32,110.56

NEAL, SUSAN B MAYOR'S ASSISTANT $89,025.60

NICHOLS IV, MONROE MAYOR'S ASSISTANT $43,945.44

PARKHURST, HILLARY A MAYOR'S ASSISTANT $36,120.00

POLONCHEK, AMY W MAYOR'S ASSISTANT $135,000.00

SIEGEL, NANCY J MAYOR'S ASSISTANT $94,967.28

STINER, MATTHEW L MAYOR'S ASSISTANT $36,120.00

STOUT, BEN J MAYOR'S ASSISTANT $135,199.92

WILKIE, JEFFREY R MAYOR'S ASSISTANT $120,000.00

HAMILTON, MONICA L MAYORS ASSISTANT $53,466.48

This personal staff of yours makes over $870,000.00!

Now lets just start with the first guy listed:
DURKEE JR, JOHN V MAYOR'S ASSISTANT $95,000.16

His salary alone would pay for at least two officers and part of the third.

Got an idea - why do you cut this group salary by 15% that would pay for the three officers salaries!

No I think you have ax to grind with the police department! It appears you are trying to bully them around.

Here is the problem - they are men - REAL MEN, not the stooges that you like to boss and bully around. And as real men they are standing up to you and you can't stand it!
So over this

NO you got it wrong Hank. The mayor is full of it. She has lied and screwed these men and women since she got into office. FOP has not gotten too powerful they are just tired of her trying to screw them. I disagree, they are not cry babies they are working with a shoe string budget just like everyone else...they have already taken paycuts this year AND taken furlough days and lost officers and grounded the helicopters (that are already paid for, for the rest of the year mind you..What a waste of money that is)sold horses and I could go on and on but I won't bore you with the nasty details..It's ridiculous! She just needs to leave well enough alone and stop pretending to FIX this!

FOP would rather turn up the propaganda and fear rather than deal what every other person has had to deal with in this economy.

They are nothing special, and should give up their million-dollar perks (or are they more like AIG or Wall Street?)

Here's a great idea, let's waste money on a new city hall and a multi-million dollar stadium for the Drilers. A team that can't even fill the old stadium.
Then let's forget about the roads, the police helicopters, the police themselves. I mean who cares if the citizens are being robbed as long as we have a pretty city. Kathy Taylor is not running again cause she knew exactly what was coming for the citizens of Tulsa.

Did I hear that right? Did the mayor just say that she can't afford to pay these three as police officers, when the department is already 100 officers short, but she can pay them as "Airport Police officers". Is the Airport 100 officers short? WTF? Where does she come up with this stuff.

The union needs to stand its ground for now. She will be gone in 6 weeks or so. Why should the union give concessions when the City just said they have the money to pay these guys.

She thinks of a new way to screw over the citizens and the city employees on a daily basis.

Where are the 200 police officers she promised to add to the force if elected? Why could she not figure out that if there is a minimum of 50 officers needed each shift for each of the 3 sides of town, and there is not enough officers to work because they are taking furloughs or are short 200 officers, that other officers will have to fill those positions on hire back, at 1-1/2 times the normal rate? So make an officer go on furlough for 8 hours and have to fill it with 12 hours worth of another officer. How does this save the city money? An officer working a beat can either drive the car back to the station, or drive it home. That is about the same distance. On average, most officers live inside Tulsa. A very few live outside Tulsa. You will not save much by making them leave the cars at the divisions. Besides, you will have to build more parking lots for all the cars if do that. If you share cars, studies have shown again and again, that the cars will not last being driven all day long. Besides that, this is part of the benefits package agreed on by both sides during contract negotiations. When will the mayor get the buildings sold that she promised to sell to fund the new city hall? She says it is not the same, but she took rainy day money to remodel it. She caused tons of expenses to be able to get into it. She hired lots of labor to make it happen. I'll bet that came out of the salary budget. And what about all the TV Guide people she has hired that are in turn hiring TV Guide people too? What, they cant make it there and run it into the ground so now they get to run the city into the ground too? Why did the IT people decide they needed to join a union to fight all the new people who were being hired because "no one was qualified" that worked at the city for these jobs already? We have people with masters and doctorate degrees, but enstead, they hired 4 people that used to work at TV Guide and put them in IT management: Ben Stout,$135,199.92; Jim Langster $125,823.36; Jim Dandridge $116,330.88; Tom Goliver $116,330.88. Lets see, that's $493685.04 in just 4 new jobs alone...

I have no problem with officers driving their vehicles home. I feel safer when I look out my door and see an officer's car sitting across the street. I've owned three homes since moving to Tulsa and there was at least one police officer that lived in each neighborhood. In fact, I'm a realtor and I see a police car in just about every neighborhood. Although it may not deter all crime, I can't imagine that it doesn't deter at least some crime. BTW...if the salaries being discussed here are accurate, I agree that the mayor's office needs to cut their own payroll and keep our officers working.

if the city would get rid of chief palmer and a few of the mayors assistants they could use their salaries to put the three officers back to work. how many assistants does the mayor need and palmer was just about worthless the first time around and it doesnt seem he has changed this time.

Holy C**P Batman!! Are these salaries for real? What a disgrace. These people are way over paid. Why does Kathy Taylor need so many stinking assistants? Or should I say " servants?" Do they wait on her hand and foot, bring her coffee, do her nails and hair, take her clothes to the dry cleaners? What a waste of money. Our fine city is going down the tubes. Can't wait to bis her farewell. Can't come soon enough.

While firemen take across the board pay cuts to show their solidarity, these crybabies show their true colors and stonewall. After all, why should they give any concessions? When the city has to lay off a single cop, the sheeple of Tulsa will get their pitchforks and head for the Mayor's house. Eventually the city will find a way to give these babies everything they want and they'll get even more cocky.

The TPD should lay off officers that are too fat to catch anyone. Also, stop paying the bad officers that visit their girlfriends while on duty. There are alot of good officers that are doing their jobs they should keep their job. Did Kathy Taylor layoff her managers or reduce their pay. How can get the information.

Hey, rocket scientist, they laid off 21 officers and the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT bailed the city out so we could rehire 18 of the 21.

Also, police officers DID take pay cuts - we did not get our raise this year and we are all taking 64 hours of furlough time.

Come out from under your bridge every once in a while and you won't be such a clueless troll.

You have brought up a question here. The way I look at this total picture the NUMBERS do not jive. First we have the Stimulas offer 3.5 million to hire, train and equip 18 officer and pay them for three years. We lay off 21 officers and hire 18 back because of lack of funds.......the officers hired back have already been trained, provided cars and equipment and have their benefits provided. Question: WHERE DID THE MONEY GO THAT WOULD HAVE PROVIDED FOR THE NEW OFFICERS CARS, TRAINING AND EQUIPMENT......Why would that not pay for the other three and ten more. Elementary My Dear Watson.........
