While I really appreciate having a nice new event center and can appreciate Pelli's artistic expression, I just don't find the BOK Center attractive at all. I think it sticks out like a sore thumb and rather detracts from the styling of downtown Tulsa. I would have much preferred a design that incorporated Tulsa's art deco theme. I guess it just reminds me too much of the Mabee Center at ORU which I think looks unappealing also. The one thing that it does have going for it is that it is so memorable, even if it is the same thing that I dislike about it. LOL

There will be no renaissance of downtown Tulsa. They built a white elephant. Who wants to go to crime ridden downtown? Where do you park? Should have been built with parking all around. Should have been built in the suburbs not down town.

It cracks me up that he sees Tulsa with a "can do spirit" and "a sense of optimism." He obviously didn't talk to the people who leave comments on this site and the Tulsa World site. Sheesh. Would you have been happier if it looked more like the eyesore called the Convention Center? It is refreshing to have something artistic rising up in town.
I do think the "planners" missed the boat on one thing though because with OK being so "fat" I'm afraid a lot of people won't be good with the idea of having to park 10 minutes away and WALK to the arena instead of parking up close. At least the first event has already sold out, so I hope the same goes for future events. |

Have any of you whom complain about the parking ever been to a downtown venue like this other then the one in Oklahoma City? Often will you find yourself walking there because there is no arena parking. Get over it, it's built, nothing you say is going to change that. The only thing it does now is makes you look like you don't support your city.

I agree that an Art Deco theme would have been more in keeping but go figure. What else would have worked with Tulsa's art forms , the prayinig hands and the golden driller?

Have you ever been there? OKC has a huge parking garage next door. Even if I don't park in the garage I can always find parking within 2 blocks of the thing.

The arena is pretty cool!! However, will not do anythng for downtown, it will be just like the Civic Center is and was...you will go down there just for your event!!

Amen |

It sold out to a lot of ticket scalpers... I hope the arena is only 1/4 full because of this... Parking is going to be a nightmare...and who wants to pay what the scalpers are asking... I sure wouldn't |
|
It is a ugly silver arena...It disappears in the background on a sunny day...Should have some color to it |
|

Cool looking building but it for sure doesn't fit in with the tired and run down building surrounding it...
Still when ya look at it all you think is, there's nowhere to put all the cars who want to go in there...You're gonna have to get down there 3 hours early to scope out a spot. |

WAAAAA! thats all you ever hear from these lazy tulsans that post on here. maybe if some of you got off your lazy a** and went downtown, you would see its not that bad. downtown tulsa is getting better and i look forward to it as do many other people i associate with.

Quit calling me lazy... You have know idea what I do or how much exercise I get... downtown isn't bad... but parking is horrible.... and when you get that many people hunting parking spots... it's going to be a nightmare... but you will remember it |

I work downtown the parking is already awful even just for work. I think it is the ugliest building I have ever seen. I don't believe it fits with Tulsa's historic buildings. It just looks short and squatty with all the tall buildings around it. If it will bring good shows and more money into tulsa I guess it won't be such a bad thing.

Rumor has it when he drove up to it, he said "Wow, this is one ugly duct tape turban."
Nah not really lol, but it does look like a freaking turban. |

Wow it does look like a duct tape turban lol |

That is one ugly building in my opinion. As for being to other venues. I have been to Arrowhead stadium, ample parking & a full house. Cowboys stadium, still had decent parking but has to walk a mile. I did go to the Edward Jones dome in St. Louis & parking was all but non-exsistant. We parked free 10 miles away & rode the train. All was good until we left, lines for the train were about a mile long. Some towns address the parking for event centers & I will go to those, others like Tulsa do not & I will not. You have to remember something, business goes where it is wanted, but stays where it is appreciated. If Tulsa addresses the parking issues I believe it will be a successful arena even if it is as ugly as... well, you get the idea
