Convicted Tulsa Sex Offender Back In Court

When will they realize that these people can not be rehabilitated?

He should have never been out what was the county thinking? Where they on meth? When they decided to let this nut free. Court system don't have no justice for the kids that where already victim by this rat. SO what are they going to do give him a couple of years and let this rat back out. The best thing for people like this is to take them to the country in get your double gauge shot gun and blow that rat away. And that save the children once a sex offender always a sex offender

What I feel is a shame regarding the politics of this situation is that Berry is a REPEAT offender. He never was individually accessed which in my opinion, he would have stood out like a sore thumb and Oklahoma could have dealt with him and this entire situation could have been prevented.

There was to be an Interim Study on the Adam Walsh Act but Rep Rex Duncan did not approve it. He cited the costs. I did some investigation and found out the cost was ONLY $1200.00.

At a time when we need, very desperately to have the understanding the RESEARCH that would PREVENT situations like this we negate the research, in favor to the statuesque.

Laws that do more harm than good, laws that endanger children and the whole of our society.

$1200.00 against the millions of dollars that Oklahoma is spending on ineffective, knee jerk laws that protect no one yet endanger everyone.

Shame on Rep. Rex Duncan, Sand Springs. What ever happen to "If it saves one child?"

And shame on all the law makers who continue along this same vain. "Laws that do more harm than good." Laws that do not have one bit of research. How stupid is that.

The law makers are responsible for this two year old being kidnapped because had they relied on evidence based research in making these laws, Marcus Berry at the very least would have been under strict supervision or kept locked up.

thank goodness they caught this man in time. kudos to the police on that. but i have to voice a slightly different opinion in reference to the idea of 'shoot em all, they cannot be rehabilitated'. that's simply not true. many can, and currently are being rehabilitated. there is an outstanding program in oklahoma with an amazing success rate for preventing reoffending. these people realize that a lot of sex offenders have psychological problems that contribute to being an offender in the first place. i wish more people could learn to hate what the person has done, but try to understand why they did what they did, and THEN decide whether to hate that person.

Devient sex offenders should get the death sentence... their "addiction"never stops, their gun is never empty, they are never satiated. Death is the only prevention from further harm. What do you mean "caught in time"? He is a CONVICTED MOLESTER!!! He was NOT caught "in time"? My hope is this child did not suffer from trauma, but he was NOT "caught in time".
I really think you are kidding yourself. And how old is this study? Do you know that the average molester has offended 10 to 15 times before being "caught". Do you know that the longer they go "without" the stronger the urge becomes? I want to be compassionate and often try to be so, BUT -- I also try to be realistic. Sometiems when something is so severely broken that it becomes dangers, it has to be tossed.

I don't believe true child sex offenders can be rehabilitated. As others have pointed out, they usually leave a string of victims before ever being caught and most abducted and murdered children were murdered by some nutjob who was finally caught at least once and released. Some have done many stints in prision and continue to repeat the offense. I for one am not willing to dangle other innocent children as bait until the perp reaches his ultimate goal of murder.

We need a law three strikes and your in prision for life. The reason these guys dont write the law is they are lawyers, and the revolving doors makes for a good income. Plus were a FAMILY VALUE STATE and the legislature writes laws accordingly.

I work with Adult Sex Offenders and I do not believe they can be rehabilitated. Studies have shown that adult sex offenders cannot be rehabilitated they can only be contained. If they are given the opportunity they will reoffend. The research shows that juvenile sex offenders have a higher rehabilitation rate because they are young enough to retrain their thought processes and treat any trauma they have suffered. One way to guarantee success is for the offender to be medically or pharmaceutically castrated so they do not have these urges. Sex offenders are very methodical, deceitful, manipulative people and their one and only goal is to control others so that they may empower themselves and their egos. It is not about hatred it is about protecting society from these pedophiles.

I am not pro sex offender, I am pro common sense which our legislators appear to not have. Rex Duncan is a prime example of putting self aggrandizement before the safety of our children. Apparently he wants to waste the time and resources of the legislature to apply for the death penalty when he knows that it would be expensive and the U.S. Supreme Court has already said NO.

It amazes me that he would waste all that valuable money, yet for a $1200.00 will not allow the Interim study to go forward.$1200.00 isn't even postage when it comes to the state legislators. But a study that could lead to protecting children, he nixes!! Shame on Rex Duncan! "If it saves just one child."

I agree with this and believe the laws HAVE to be re-written. The registry is full of people that have no business being there. Urinating behind a bush is not a "sex offense" but they are there. Register ONLY sex offenders and it would cut the workload of those who are responible for keeping track of their movements in half.
