Pretty rotten that banks get bailed out only to have them not lend anything to give a hand up to anyone! Sorry to hear this happened to these workers.

Man this sucks...I feel really bad for the people getting the laid off ...I hope they are going to get some kind of severence packages...and be able to draw unemployement if there is any of that left...I have a really bad feeling that this is going to get way worse before it gets any better...a small business can't get a loan from a bank if they tried to...you can't even get a personal loan...so why give these banks more "bail out" dollars if only so they can bail out their own upper level management. I know the tellers aren't getting any of it. JMO

That's what happens when one puts all their eggs in one basket. They should of sought other businesses to add as customers over the years, instead the company chose to have 90%+ of their business for Dillards. Should of kept it Oklahoma Fixtures instead of letting "Penloyd" bleed a good company to it's death.

And the government gave all that money to the banks so that they can loan it out to companies and individuals to stimulate the economy. Instead they are hording the money and not giving out loans to businesses or individuals. They are basically trying to save themselves from going under. But they are not helping the economy which was the purpose of the loans. It took my husband and myself 8 months to find a company ie bank to loan on our modular home and property. And I can tell you one thing it was not easy. For the Banks turning down people is easy but it is not on your self worth.

Seemed like a good company to work for but not giving us the earned time is unacceptable Maybe if they cut out some of the unneeded expenses earlier in the year maybe they would still be in business or we would have our earned time off.

It was not a good company to work for. It had some good people but micromanagement from the top(the CEO ripped us apart in front of management in meetings) wore everyone down. No wonder HR had to attend every meeting he was in.

I would not bail out a company(even though I was laid off) that seemed to have a failed business model. They counted on Dillards for everything and blamed individuals when new business could not be won. I personally took a decent business lead to management but it was ignored. The client sought US out! That was the mindset there.

Workers had to make decisions and heaven forbid you made the wrong decision; you paid for it dearly in front of everyone. But hey, if upper management left the decisions to low level employees, they were never in the wrong. What a plan.

Thanks for everything PB, you were one in a million!

Not true. Banks are begging for people to borrow money. This false rumor has made people afraid to ask. They just aren't loaning money to companies that don't have a chance of making it, such as one who makes one product for ONE customer, which happens to be in high-end retail, which is an industry that is suffering. If a bank loaned to this company, they would have lost their money and been back begging for more from the government.

Diversify is the key. Penloyd was not Diversified, the company used to do custom work for banks, executive offices, universities, arenas, etc. But they relied too much on Retail especially Dillard's. I feel bad for the workers and their families that were dedicated to this company.

So very true! PB constantly preached ethics and accountability, yet he and the owners seem to be lacking these very same qualities. Dumping 400 families and company vendors is reprehensible!! Shame on the oil mogul-owners.

PB used a phrase one time chiding employees for giving excuses:
"The easiest copout is to wrap yourself in the blood of a victim."
I wonder how hard it is for him to sleep at night DROWNING in the blood, sweat, and tears of the 400 families -- VICTIMS -- of a business plan which drove a profitable company with good people into the ground.
Another PB-ism: "Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it."
For society's sake, I hope he has learned a lesson.
If not, I know where there is a warehouse full of dummies that might sit still long enough to listen to his hubristic and vitriolic criticisms.

they say they cant get the money. I dont think that is true. just something to hide behind. Paul Loyd who actaul owns penloyd has quite a resume
(http://people.forbes.com/profile/paul-b-loyd/... ) and (http://www.nndb.com/people/858/000172342/ ) Sorry I cant see how he cant get the money. Rumers around that they are going to liquidate the plant.(KRMG.COM )Dosnt sound they have work this spring/summer like they said. So what is the truth. Moving to China? Paul Buttsberger PB and Paul Loyd are just afraid to speak the truth. as far not paying for work and benifets. call the labor board and get the paper work ready. join forces.

Daily Horoscope for December 7

Libra

You're ready to put a lot of energy and drive into the day, but you'll prefer it if you're doing things that have meaning and emotional significance for you. There's a chance that you could get quite heated over anything that strikes you as important now, and others could be taken aback by your vehemence. There might also be a minor dust-up over a financial matter.
