I have volunteered not only at the tree itself, but also the distribution of the gifts around Christmas. My suggestion for those who want to help but maybe can't afford to buy things this year, give the gift of your time. Volunteer to distribute the gifts and goodies to the parents, it is a wonderful reward. Like I said, I have been doing this for almost 7 years, it is a great experience for everyone.

I, too, help with charities (and individual families) during the Holiday Season. And, you are right about "wonderful rewards". It gives me great joy to help those less fortunate. There is no feeling like it in the world.

You could not be more right! I too go to the salvation army to help wrap, and had out the gifts, I take my children and we love it. I have inculded other children in the past year, and this year I have a group of 10 going with us. They love to help, and the rewards of honoring God with his love of giving is the most rewarding. My children are not buying my husband and I gifts this year, I just found out they are picking a charity of their choice and are helping there, as our gift to us. At 17,16 and 9, this was the best present I have ever got from them. Bless all of you that help the needy this Christmas, may God always shine in your lives!

Nothing more satisfying than giving to the needy during this time of year. Several years ago, my family and I decided to stopy buying gifts for one another. Instead, we spend that money on gifts for a needy family.

I don't celebrate Christmas, but I still participate in giving to various charities that help needy families in our community.
Also, contact the nearest school. They will have a list of families that need help.

Many of us are feeling the economic crunch. One can always donate a Saturday afternoon to the Goodwill or Salvation Army doing a number of things to help.

I love to pick out toys for the children, having none of my own (biologically). I usually participate in Toys for Tots, but any charity is good!

When I was a young child this group helped my parents out!! If it was not for them and my grandparents we would not have had anything on one particular year. Now I return the favor every year by taking my 3 children, and instead of them buying gifts for me, dad or their siblings or other family members, we go to the tree and each child picks out their own angel and we try to get everything on their list!!!! We are also helping out Blue Star Mothers this year too! I am just hoping I have started something that my children will keep doing every year and do the same with their own families when that time comes! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!!!!!!
