What an awful, awful, accident and both families need our prayers and they have mine.
OK, "speeders", take a close look at these two vehicles, then hold your loved ones before leaving home.
The next pictures could be of your car. Speed reduces re-action time, I don't care who you are. There is no such thing as a safe speeder.
"I KNOW" That there was no mention of speed, but it could have very well played a part in this accident, But we'll wait and see.

It had nothing to do with speeding...

AND it wasn't and "accident"..it was a collision caused by a person who should not have been behind the wheel. They were obviously too tired yet decided to get behind the wheel and in turn fell asleep while driving and ended up killing an innocent person because of their selfishness and lack of good judgement.

Please..if you are too tired DON'T get behind the wheel of a car....instead get some rest THEN go to your destination.

Sleeping while behind the wheel is getting to be a rather scary epidemic.

This story is wrong - The man in the mustang did not cause it. The other man did, the one who did not survive. My co-worker was first on the scene, I was about 12th in line behind him. He witnessed the accident. The mustang driver who survived was hit after the other guy spun off of the truck.

This particular stretch of road kills somebody about every month. I drive it everyday and with the rock quarry and all the trucks it's no wonder. I don't understand why they don't either make it a four lane all the way or build a road just for the trucks. The 3 or 4 miles from 169 to the port has to be the most dangerous road in Oklahoma.
I would also like to know what the stats are for that stretch of road as far as accidents.

We must not forget the familes of the victims. My husband works out at the port and this is very true. Some wife got a kiss goodbye for the last time. And kids could've said goodbye to there dad for the last time. Enjoy every day and every moment we never know when it will be our last.

I just hope the sequence of events will be correct. In this day and age it will make a HUGE difference in the family budget. It will just be another "accident" if the wrong one is pronounced at fault. I would also like to know how you know that someone fell asleep if they can not tell you they did.

I think repairing this road, along with either adding street lights or additional lanes, if not both considering how many people use this everyday and the accidents that have and will be involved, is more important than building a 60 million dollar Drillers stadium for sure. You cannot put a price on someones life.

Thanks to B-Force for giving us the facts of the story and to Jan for pointing out that they have no way of knowing if the driver fell asleep or not. He could have been reaching for a cell phone or a cup of coffee, anything. Also, Destiny from the ville wants road improvements instead of a new Drillers Stadium. Yes, they are more important, but we are talking two different counties here. Tulsa County can't keep their own roads in shape, they aren't going to cough up $60 million to Rogers County for road improvements.

Keep these families in your prayers. I can't imagine the pain they are going through.

You know I couldnt agree with you more. The roads around here are so bad and all they care about is making downtown tulsa look good and to get the mayor out of her cramped office into a suite of nice plush offices. Just my opinion, but our roads are some of the worst in the U.S. Heck even KS has better roads than we do.

So true.. Driving northbound through Claremore will ruin your tires. The roads here are absolutely pathetic! And don't even get me started on the bridges...
