City Of Tulsa To Sue The County Over Jail Fees

The simple answer to this is just let Stanley have a Metro Police Squad and that would get rid of the TPD and their union.

well andy since the TPD or their union are not the ones pressing the issue I do not see how that would help a stalemate between Tulsa City and Tulsa County. But if you want a department of lesser trained and lesser qualified officers keeping you safe then go ahead with your idea.

Bullets are cheaper than jails. but then again what would the 199,000 lawyers in town do? Oh they would have to work

Easy way to fix this problem... Sell off the BOK center and take the money that will be used for river parks, and the new ball field and just buy an run your own jail!

If the city makes the arrests and the city collects the fines,then the city should house or pay for it's own prisoners. otherwise every city in tulsa county should have the priviledge of using the county jail for free.

Just charge the inmates a service charge, It would be just like them buying a ticket from the BOK center, but cheaper.........LMAO

You could also put all of them in one big holding cell together,Tell them anything goes and that there are no repercusions for thier actions, put it on pay per view and see what happens ! Might make for some better entertainment than the BOK ! Talk about some reality TV !!!!

I had a similar idea, take all your crack cocaine addicts and put them all in one place together..give them each a cocaine rock and a handgun and let them shoot each other...the one left standing gets his own room in the jail.

This city/county agreement goes back further then most of you know. Roy Gardner and Dave Faulkner came up with this agreement. The tragedy of this situation is that no one has sat down and calculated the cost/benefit to each entity if the agreement were to remain as is.

If Stanley gets his way we lose.

If Kathy get her way we lose.

Either way, we get screwed and the inmates get high tea.

Its a business and Manly Stanley is running it like a business. He is making a profit from it. The more he has in the more he makes per day.

Lets do some math shall we. The jail holds about 800 inmates x $54 a day =$43,400 a day.

$43400 x 365 day =$15,841,000 (thats almost 16 million dollars)

Guards are paid about $12 an hour, lets say about 50 guards per shift x 3 shifts =$14400 per day.

$43200 x 365 days =$5,256,000 (that is a bit over 5 million dollars)

Now Manly Stanly contracts out for food and other things (gas/electric/repairs) and other expenses so lets say that comes to about $6 million.

6 million for contact + 5 million for labor = 11 million in cost. So good ole boy Manly Stanly has a milk cow the county loves to the tune of $5+ million a year.

Who said that crime does not pay?? The county can afford to give those workers a bonus this Christmas (as reported on channel 6 website)!

You poor suckers in Tulsa are getting sucker punched in the kidneys, one side from Krazy Kathy and the other side from Manly Stanly.

Perhaps tis better to move, Australia is a great place.

Solution. Quit putting people in jail for petty crimes like not paying their speeding ticket. That would save us money. I personally don't want my tax money to pay for some person to be in jail over something that in no way threatens the people of tulsa.

Oh yeh, just let the people speed all they want and this wouldnt be a hazard to everyone else? Ohhh Ohhh I know lets put a new law into effect and make our cars wear safety belts. That would solve everything.

I agree, all the unions should be abolished. Especially the one at american airlines. Those employess are grossly overpaid anyway.

If your not going to force collection of speeding tickets, why would you want the police force to waste their time giving them out? Same difference.

The County needs to get over it. Realize the City exists inside the county. Why would city taxpayers pay twice (once to support $54/day and again to support the overall jail)?
