Five pit bulls attack 11-year-old Tucson boy

pit bulls were bread to hate other dogs but love people, when they were wsed for fighting they were bread to fight the dog but never harm the human even in a fight.
it is the owners who provoke the dog to be meen the dogs bread is actuly one of the sweetest i have found (and i study dogs good and bad)
often when a report says someone was attacked by a pit bull they dont actuly know if it was a pit bull or some other bull bread (they are significantly diffrent) you can even call up the newspaper and ask.

pit bulls should not be baned bad onwers or even dog onwers who dont know what a dog needs should be banned.

if you keep alpha (leader)position with your dogs you WILL have obedent dogs no matter what breed the dog is they will do whatever you want them to do, that can be a problem with people who want their dogs to attack, pitbulls are easely alphed and they are smart dogs (so they can learn what you want them to do easly)that is often their undoing, but if you are smarter than to train them to be mean, that is their greatest quality.

the only dog breed that should be banned is the wolf dog hybrid, those "dogs" have the wolf instinct that people are evil but without the fear that all wolves have naturaly. hybrids, no matter how well trained are still wild and that cannot be trained away, they are managable if you are fully equiped to deal with them and you have training with how to deal with them.

I dont think it was the dogs fault. I think it was the kids. He was probly teasing the dogs so they got mad and atacked him but altho i feel so bad that,that kid maby died or has gotten injerd badly.

What are the facts? Was the kid in the dogs yard? Did the dogs get out? If dogs got out, the owner of the dogs should be arrested. If kid was in the neighbors yard uninvited, he got what he deserves. 5 pitbulls? Too many, what is this guy a kennel? Pitbulls are aggressive by breed, but I have seen some well behaved ones also. But South Tucson around 36th is a $hit Hole and the owners are wannabe thugs gauranteed. He trains his dogs to be violent.

ok i am moving over to the south side and i breed my pits maybe 2 times a year i dont do it for money i do it cause my dogs are show pits nd hey have retty pups. i hve never had any kind of problems with my pits. even the one female have that is fixed that was abused and i have her around my newphew. for peopleto think that the only kind of people that own pits is thugs nd drug dealers well think again im not. i work full time g to the of a and i work for what i got. my dogs are all in side pits no mater what time of year it is. i have had other breeds be4 and every pitbull i have had is the only breed that NEVE I MEAN NEVER LIFTED A LIP TO ME OR GROWLED AT ME. WHEN THEY EAT MY HANDS ARE IN THERE FOOD I PULL ON THERE EARS AND I PUT MY ACE IN THERE FOOD. IVE BEEN DOING THAT SINCE I WAS A BABY AND IONLY GOT BIT BY A FEW DOGS THAT WERENT PITS. I have a pit bull named Jack. Not only is he the most loving dog I have ever seen but he wouldn't hurt anyone. Isn't it wrong to think that the attack on people from some pit bulls means all pit bulls will do the same? Some people would call it discrimination: classifying the action of certain individuals to the individual's populous? It is the people who own those dogs that should be held responsible, not the animals. Pit Bulls CAN be trained to be loving and gentle as long as they are treated as such. No wonder pit bulls (AND MANY OTHER DOGS) attack humans when the come from abusive homes. For survival they are going to try to hurt people that hurt them. They probably associate humans with BAD after being abused and unloved.

The point is, before you are so quick to categorize all pit bulls are evil, think about how many pit bulls have made so many owners happy. Jack has brought so much happiness to my life, and I hope no one looks down on him for being a pit bull.

What I find really interesting is that people are quick NOT to look at statistics. If you look up dog bite instances for any state within the U.S. Pit Bulls are NOT on the top of the list. They don't even make the top 5. The fact is when they do bite, yes, their bites tend to inflict more injury than the more frequent biters due to their innate stubborness (they don't like to give up/let go). These dogs do not like failure. They give 150% in everything they do -- whether it's biting someone's arm, or licking the face of a child. If any legislation need be passed, it perhaps would be better to restrict the breed to those who have to jump some legal hoops themselves to own the dog; We don't sell alcohol to minors based on the philosophy that they do not yet possess the self discipline necessary to drink responsibily (unfortunately, many adults also lack that capability, but that's another issue..). Perhaps the same philosophy should extend to pit bull ownership, which requires more attentiveness, knowlege, dedication and responsibility -- for everyone's safety and wellbeing. Ignorance and laziness are the true culprits. Let's start at the beginning for once!!

I saw a 911 special on TV one night where an old lady called because 2 pits from down the street came in her door and attacked her. She was lucky to get to the phone before they knocked her down and she was screaming for help. She did not provoke the dogs. Don't blame kids for everything. It's the dog who is inbred to kill.

I have two pit bulls and they would never hurt a kid. And I would never give them a chance. You can't ban a breed try banning owners, instead. Try having a law where pit bull owners have to have education about the breed. You can never blame the dog after all it is a dog they come from wolves. Try blaming the parents for not teaching there kids how to behave around dogs.

A chihuahua is more lickly to bite than a pit bull but you dont here about that do you. The national dog behavior institute did evals on all breed want to know what breed scored the highest "pit bull" at 85% or so and Goldens passed with a 73% so which would you rather own

My question is why were there FIVE pit bulls out of their yard in the first place.....Where was the OWNER it is not the dogs fault...and did you ever think that mabye the kid did something to the digs to make them mad? NO of course not because it is aleays the DOGS fault when really IT NOT!!! I have 2 PURE PIT BULLS and they have NEVER came close to atacking anyone!!!They are NOT BORN that way they are TRAINED that way...any dog can attack at any time....just think if all those little ankle biter dogs were 60 lbs more they could kill just as well as pit bulls!!!!

you uneducated pit bull haters are the problem.the facts are 19% of dog attacks are pits the rest are all other breeds the thing is you have to stereotye these great dogs just as you do mexicans,and african american. bet youre all white.

I do argree with alot of you with having kids killed and hurt from attacks but not all the attacks are from pit bulls. Yes having 5 dogs is alot but i think the owners are the ones that make the dogs mean. I have 3 pit bulls and they are all firendly, to me, to other dogs, and to kids.

I recently adopted a Pit bull from Animal Control, here, in Tucson.
She's approx. 9 months old.
Past unknown.
She's what most would consider untrustworthy, since I dont know her past (she could be a killer you know).
Honestly, she is by far the best dog I've ever had, and I've had many being in animal rescue for 7 years.
I take her to the dogpark almost everyday, she's fine with kids, and the only time I've seen any agression is when something spooks her and she barks which is normal for every dog.

The only thing I see thats different in Pit Bulls than any other dog is this; she's the most loyal, and sweetest dog I've owned.

I teared up reading these comments. I can't believe the racism, and dont try to say its not, towards this breed.

Any dog is capable of attacking, or killing.
They are all descendants of wolves, that kill for a living.
I've never met a dog that was flat out human agressive. I can befriend most any.
When you get a pack of dogs (2 or more typically), the mentality of the dogs changes. Just like humans. Riots?

The fear that you all show towards these types of dogs is what makes them seem more vicious. Making them mean and such is a way for the owners to feel controlling, because they are in fact controlling you with their dog.
You're scared so you'll stay away.

The best thing that could happen is to get more animal rights laws goin. By getting the bastards that abuse these dogs in trouble for it, there will be less of them which in turn means less agressive dogs.

Think logically, not stubbornly.

I'd like you all to come meet Patches. She'll cange your mind about Pits. Or how bout Dakota, and her two sisters, the search and rescue Pits.

I make jokes all the time about people like you.
I'll be walking my "killer pit bull" down the street and tell people (as shes wagging her tail, giving kisses, jumping around and playing) that you know, she's gonna turn on you.

Is there ONE ACTUAL STORY with PROOF of a Pit Bull, raised properly, that randomly turns on someone. Unprovoked, without some form of brain tumor or something.
Please, I'd love to read about these dogs that all of a sudden turn on their loving owners. God knows I've heard the rumors, but never one factual story.

The pit and the rotweiller are "trendy" dogs.

Seems many want a "guard dog" these days.

And you have TOO many people who are not willing to train them properly. It's funny. They require people with guns to register. But a pit and rot can be just as dangerous, AND not so instantaneous in their destruction.

Owners should be held liable with dogs.

At the same time it would be helpful to have a camera system or something to prove that your dog was not at fault if a stupid child decided to tease the dog.

I also have seen a perfectly normal dog growl at everyone, especially kids, because on their way to school, they threw rocks at it.

If I ever caught my kid doing that, suffice it to say they'd never do it again; they wouldn't be able to sit down.

Although I have never owned a pit bull I have many friends that do. There are some that seem to get along with children and some that do not. But this has NOTHING to do with the fact that they are a pit bull!! I've known cockerspaniels meaners than any pit bull I've met....I think it is so sad that people must stereotype these poor animals. They say one bad apple spoils the whole barrel rotten and it is definitely true in the subject of a pit bull. I am a FIRM believer that a lot of it has to do with how the animal is raised and diverse surroundings, i.e. it's kinda like a child. If you never let the kid out to play and experience people of course it's going to be afraid when it actually has to and being afraid can cause negative things to happen. Sad....

Its not the dogs fault tho i rescued a pit from a abusive home an i was barly able to touch it when i first got it and after a couple weeks of just showing the dog that i wasnt gonna hurt him i was able to wrestle run around and play with him there great dogs in the right hands and it wouldnt be fair for them to be outlawed, or to the people who do right by them and love the breed
