These are just the people Mexico needs to change for the better. They are held in high regard here and have more opportunities then the common Mexican.
They are welcome here and if they wish to continue their education there is many very good universities here, if they wish to work, bilingual Mexican nationals, that's what they are, are in high demand.

Then we can educate them and give them jobs and also citizenship here so they can try to better their own country first through sending money back into Mexico. This isn't going to happen overnight. Mexico, at this time in her history, has faltered and misstepped. Our country has the wealth and the resouces to help out out neighbors in need. Especially our close ones and allies.

I think we can suck it up as Americans for a few generations and pay a few more tax dollars per person as to help educate and feed their people as a show of our goodwill and a gesture of humanitarian support.

It's their money, they earned it, they can do what they wish with it. If they want to earn like crazy here, and then send the majority of it back to Mexico, who are you to say it's wrong? They pay their taxes, they should be entitled to do with the remainder as they wish.

No?

Thank you, there is so much misinformation on this subject, mostly from people who have never been to Mexico much less live here, and the influx of American educated Mexicans will make a huge favorable impact. In fact, I believe it is the eventual answer to both countries biggest problems regarding immigration in general and Mexico's potential as a self supporting free country.

I have no problem with students coming here on student visas to get an education, as long as they are not paying instate tuition as they are not citizens or residents, they are students studying in another country. But when the education is done, they need to return home as that is what a student visa is for - here while learning then go home. When I was in college, I knew many here on student visas. My brother spent time in Europe as part of his schooling (paid for it himself BTW).

There are great schools south of the border as well. My husband and I know many who have been foreign educated and for many fields, these schools are fine.

However, I cannot condone public colleges and universities catering to illegals especially allowing them to pay instate tuition when so many here cannot afford private schools.

If private schools want to allow illegals in, that is their choice but they should not be getting any public funds or grants.

Public schools should be for those here legally.

The US "already" gives more charity to the world, than ALL OTHER COUNTRIES COMBINED. Also, US citizens are currently being forced to bail out private companies, mortgage lenders, "stupid" people facing foreclosures for taking out loans that most KNEW they couldn't afford and it looks like FORD/GM is next on the horizon.

If we are going to "suck it up" and pay more taxes, then it should FINALLY be to provide healthcare or decent educations to US citizens.

Listen, folks, WAKE UP before it's too late. These people want us to fund everyone else's agenda and try to make us feel guilty if we, GOD FORBID, want any of our money to help ourselves, or our OWN economy.

Stop feeling guilty folks.....charity begins at home. We must help ourselves, so that we are financially ABLE to help others in the future. Besides, other world markets parallel ours and if we continue this trend and ours goes down, guess what?? Then, it's all over!

There are some problems with this concept and I hope to be able to discuss this with a degree of respect, frequently lacking on Topix.
"Then we can educate them and give them jobs and also citizenship here so they can try to better their own country first through sending money back into Mexico."
There is plenty of "money" here in Mexico, the distribution of wealth is the problem. Zapata, in the early 1900's understood this and it was the major reason for his involvement, please read up on this and you will grasp the Zapatista movement of today. I recommend, Mexico Reader or the book Distant Neighbors. Mexicans do not require citizenship as Americans unless the wish to be Americans not only in name but in culture. That is the difference not race but culture, we are the same race, only the culture is different.
According to Mexican law, a person to hold elective office here not only needs to be born here, but, also his/her parents. In other words the guy in this article could conceivable become President of Mexico as apposed to the USA where the Governor of California, Arnold would not be able to hold that office if the law where similar in the USA.
Your thoughts?

Unfortunately, that isn't it at all. It's our poor economy. Soon as the picnic returns, here come all the ants right back.

__________

You can't commit a crime for your dreams of a better life.
Border jumping is a crime. Go back to your home country then imigrate legally like the rest of the world has to do to have a "dream".
Being browned skinned doesn't mean you should have special privileges. That IS RACISM.
It's not right to break into someone's home and steal money so that you can go to college because its your dream.
WHT is wrong with these bleeding hearts that condone lawbreaking?
Deport these young people and their parents and like them follow the proper immigration steps.

If you are not a citizen of Mexico and you have a child going to grade school or high school here it will cast you around 500 dollars a semester. If they don't speak Spanish they will need to learn real quick or go to a special school somewhere.

Bush needs to be impeached now and then charged with 13 million counts of aiding and abetting illegal aliens along with murder accessory counts for each of the 4,000 American citizens that the illegal's have killed annually for each of the last 8 years (32,000 Americans killed).

Deport all illegals through tough enforcement and attrition.

Immigration reform will equally consider people of all heritages and races throughout the world as opposed to the current racist policy of favoring Hispanics.

No Amnesty! These lawless illegal's have already proven they don't qualify to be Americans.

Vote out the illegal friendly Congress this Nov.
