I think when a person breaks the law that the judge needs to be alot tougher with the punishment. Especially when the person continues to repeat the same crime over and over. They obviously are not learning their lesson. If they need mental or drug rehabititation, then it needs to be mandatory that they get it. They need to transport them to the facility, not just turn them back out on the street and hope that they get help. I know this fact from my own personnel knowledge involving my daughter. She resides their in Tucson and is Bi-polarand also has a drug addiction. I dread the day I get the call that she has overdosed and is dead. I feel a stronger legal system could possibly avoid this happening.

Please accept my sympathy about your daughter. I have a son who
is Bi-polar; it's not easy. The feelings of helplessness is
nearly overwhelming. As for the tougher punishment, I am not
familiar with the legal system there. If you are a Bible student, keep God's promises in mind. If you are not a Bible student, then please know that others care! WV Pat

I have personaly delt with the system in Cochise County and believe that they are pretty throu. There is a zero toloernce on just about everything. I was placed on probation for a year for a misdamenor. Thats a little much.Once on probation they treat you like a hardened crimenial. And once you have anything to do with the sherriffs they don't soon forget you. My lifes been a living hell, and I'm preparing to leave my beloved Cochise County because of the Wyatt Earps wannabes.

I understand what you are saying . It sounds like you feel that they are still harassing you because of your past problems. That would be irritating if you are not breaking the law and their just looking for a reason to find fault with you. What I am saying about my daughters sitation is that she desperately needs to be sent to a long term rehab. center, to get well. Instead of going to jail every month or two. It seems like every charge in Arizona is considered a misdemeanor-except MURDER AND ROBBERY, therefore a short jail term and she is on her way breaking the law again!

First of all I sympathize with your daughter and her situation. I have recently gone through a similar situation. It doesnt sound like the legal system will work for your daughter. The legal system will NOT work. It is not designed for people with mental illnesses. She (not you) will need to first ask for help and then accept the help she gets and follow through with their instructions and suggestions. As a parent it is incredibly hard on yourself and you punish yourself as well sometimes. You can only do so much! You can guide and direct and empathize with her all you want (as you should). The bottom line however is that one day she will get the help she so desperately needs. Until that day comes you can do as I did, and that is to be there for her, comfort her when needed, and continue to try to find that one person that she will be able to gain trust and confidence in and then she will listen and get the help that she will want. As a parent (especially great ones like you seem to be) it is always a difficult thing to handle. You also may benefit from a support group of other parents, trust me you are not alone!! Good luck and keep fighting for your child, no one else will.

Thank you for your interest. I appreciate it. I guess with me living in Mich. and raising my granddaughter(her daughter), I just need all the legal feed back and help I can get. The courts here have taken away all 3 of her children which is the sadest part, as far as their feelings. That happened before she moved to Arizona and it has been downhill since. What a nightmare! You are right though, she has to want to kick her drug addiction and take her medicine for her BI-polar disorder.

Okay I do not know all the details of your situation but maybe it nothing to do with kids. But maybe these added medical terms lawyers and doctor come up with to help further their career is the key. Then again maybe it was you, maybe if the world did not revolved around material items, we as people would work less and be there more for our children and let them know from the get go that they have someone they can trust. Not that you are a bad parent for working and providing for your kids, but what is to much? Do you really need a new car every 3-5 years no but we still buy them one right after another force people further into debt causing them to work even more. I have a step daughter and she has ADHD, and I think I could have been there mmore in her younger developing years she would be different, but instead it is easier and more convient for me to blame it on ADHD, instead of stepping back and looking at the real problem which was me. But there is nothing I can do now she has already developed her thought processing and is set in her ways.

This Bi-polar illnesss with my daughter is for real. She has been diagnosed with this by several specialists in differnt states. She is 31 yrs old and I just found out in the last 2 yrs that she has 3 or 4 aunts and uncles on her dads side that have been diagnosed with Bi-polar and Schizophrenia. What a shock! She also has an addiction to Heroin and possibly Meth. This whole nightmare has nothing to do with being misdiagnosed or material things.

if your a Navajo then you shold be reading this. For a long time now White people and many different cultures have been going through the resevation checking out things and some of the things we have here are very powerful to us and i don't think we should have different cultures buy are things we have made. although it makes money into are hands but i really don't thinks so. Besides what has are Navajo President done for us. Nothing thats do something about it and i think we should clean up are community and have people respect are culture. We also need to put a stop to the drugs here in Tuba City. Are city is the top 1 that has a very bad drug rate. we can put a stop to that as well.get more things built and have jbs for people who need them instead of having them live in the streets. were they look nasty and ugly. Also alot of are Navajo People are dieing and pretty soon there will be no more Navavjo's. They will be gone for ever and ever.
I do not know anything about your living situation. I live in Michigan. My daughter resides in Tucson so that is how I got interested in this this site.

Well it is easy to see Arizona doesn't take the law seriously there around Ft. Mohave.

For example, they have a woman who's a known drug dealer (indian looking lady with a Bugrandy Lincoln) that is a "teacher" (day care attendant) at New Day School for crying out loud!

I mean, how hard is it to spot? How did she afford such a car? How does she support 3 kids on that salary? Have you seen the houses on Jackrabbit RD? I mean C'mon people! It's like there aren't any cops there????

I don't know anything about the person who wrote the story.
I too struggle with the probation / law enforcement. When I asked about supervised probation the responce I got was (they are not baby sitters). The person who spent the last year hurassing me and my family basicly stalking us out side my home at all hours of the night peering into my windows taking his shoes off to sneek around is on supervised probation and breaks it all the time. I have reported it 3 times all in January nothing happens. I wish you luck. Maybe they will react different for you......

I think law enforcement officers need to quite looking the other way and get serious, The judges are just not making the habitual offenders stay behind bars long enough. They also need to make it mandatory that they get drug rehabilitation and mental counseling.

Leo

Something will surface that either allows you to go forward or blocks your progress. Whichever way things go, take action to bring about change. If there's a blockage, then investigate the true cause as to why things are stuck. If things are unfolding well then make sure you act with clarity and determination. You can build something for the future now if you make a decisive move.
