The reason Bush is so adamant about Free Trade with Colombia is because he is now the proud owner of a major oil field about the size of a small state he purchased for pesos on the dollar. It was property owned by the country and sold to him by Uribe. You will not find any documentation to back that up however what you can find is Colombia's untapped oil reserves are some of the largest in the world.
