Bulky -- I just saw you are in Melbourne -- I can't present in a public forum more detailed information about who my brother-in-law is but if you wait a few more years he may be president of Colombia. I will offer you this - I will meet you in St Cloud for breakfast someday if you would like to discuss it further.

It also is not Venezuela, in November 2007 they exported 1.227 million barrels per day. Canada is the primary exporter to the USA 2.431 million however Saudi Arabia with 1.620 million barrels per day is the second largest exporter. Venezuela is well down the list behind such countries as Mexico and Nigeria. What people do not understand the crude oil that comes from that country is of poor quality and the USA has most of the refineries in the world that can break in down into a usable product.
What's the source? I got mine from National Geographic.

I will share with you all a little known fact about oil in Colombia and George Bush. I was in Bogota last June when he arrived in his speeding caravan of flashing lights and sirens. I offered him my customary single finger salute as he drove by to meet with Uribe on the Free Trade Agreement. What is to follow is what is not known to most in the world but known to me. My brother-in-law attended that meeting and has met with Bush two other times once in Brazil and the last time in Wash D.C. regarding this agreement.
The reason Bush is so adamant about Free Trade with Colombia is because he is now the proud owner of a major oil field about the size of a small state he purchased for pesos on the dollar. It was property owned by the country and sold to him by Uribe. You will not find any documentation to back that up however what you can find is Colombia's untapped oil reserves are some of the largest in the world.
The property has already been nationalized by Colombia. They gave Bush the last three Columbian virgins as compensation... I can make up lies just as good as you can, CHUMP.!

ask your government why a gallon of gas costs so much..........you'll find that its all due to taxes that are imposed on it by your own government,.........remember that a barrel of oil costs the same for everybody.........

Let Chavez go ahead with his plan... We need to learn to stop purchasing from this scum anyways. I for one do not bother purchasing from Citgo, nor any of its affiliates. If everyone did the same thing we would be in a much better predicament.

When people resort to your level of mentality they either lack the ability for intelligent discourse due to some gene defect or they have the IQ of a gnat. Which is it? It is easy to call someone a liar when you have the security of the internet to hide behind. The name calling just makes you look like a moron. Colombia is a beautiful country you should visit it before you denigrate all the women as prostitutes. My last word to you sir imbecilic dolts are everywhere.

Not so. England has it's own oil drilling platforms right off shore. Their barrel of oil is cheap. You're right about the taxes though. All the European socialist countries have very high taxes to fund social programs and foreign aid programs. >>> The environmentalist / liberal Democrat coalition has also been at work on gasoline prices. Bill Clinton signed the seriously flawed reformulated gasoline bill that had a delayed entry until after Clinton was out of office. The new formula gasoline is much more expensive to produce and we're paying for it now.

on the international market..........one barrel of oil costs the same for everybody..........the author of the message i was responding to intimated that americans need to wake up to "reality" when it comes to the price of gasoline since the rest of the world has, according to his thinking, has been paying the "real" cost. aside from that.........be aware that the united states is a major oil producing nation with huge and untapped reserves.

Whenever we're too desparate to depend on others. That still would suck if Chavez cut off our oil, seeing that's where a majority of our oil comes from.(IT'S NOT THE MIDDLE EAST, SO STOP ASSUMING THAT!)
The DOE would disagree with you.

Venezuela produces about one third as much oil as the US. We import four times as much as they produce. Where are you getting your figures?

National Geographic! Now that's not a very liberal publication, is it? I would trust DOE before I would NG.
