How long do you think it would take the US military to seize control of all the oil in the Middle East? Not "install democracies while using minimum force necessary", but knock out their armed forces, and seize the oilfields and the pipelines to the harbors? A couple months, if that long. Have you seen the sizes of their armed forces? Are you aware of their operational histories? Do you have a clue about military operations? Sorry to rant, but I'm sick of hearing that one.

I remember Cheney saying the invasion of Iraq would help our oil supply. I guess it did. The worldwide increase in oil consumption in the last year is 1%, but the price of crude has doubled. Somehow, the law of supply and demand isn't working. Gas was this high once before in some states and I have proof, has anyone seen the movie Harley Davidson and the Marboro man? Look at the seen at the first of the movie when the guy goes to get gas for his bike the sign says 389 a gal it was filmed in 1992 guess who was president then. Its all of our faults you cant blame one person if you want to blame the war then blame all that voted for it. Not one new refinery in 35 years no new drilling cars still get 20 miles a gal for the most part same as they did 40 years ago. And the ones that complain the most use the most fuel, would anyone car to guess how much fuel these 3 have used in the past year? I bet its more than most of would use in a life time.

By the time it is said and done Obama alone will raise close to 1/2 a billion $ just to get elected to the white house what a waste of money.

However, you can look the other way too, how ready are we, the average individual, to do what it takes to make the oil companies lower those prices! Are we ready to give up those gas guzzling monsters, as I did 30 years ago. My Honda accord, right now, gets 36 miles a gallon, how many folks are ready to give up that SUV?, that mini van?, that truck? We shall see, for the time draws nigh when they shall be forced to. You wont see Obama McCain or Clinton rideing in a Honda but they will ask us to do it as a matter of fact I saw a little news reel of Al Gore rideing in a Hummer I think they get about 5miles to the gallon and how much fuel does them jets use to fly him all over the country. He invented the internet he said why not use that and save fuel.

My Jeep gets 13 miles to the gallon, and I'll still drive it if gas hits $10/gal or $20/gal. I won't drive as much, but I'm not giving up living the way I want to live. I'll move into a cheaper house or get a better paying job, but I'm not giving up my big powerful vehicles. Or my guns.

Gas is expensive because the arabs want obama for president. If the arabs keep supply tight, prices go up, and people get ticked off at repubicans. They throw them out and the arabs get a muslim loving, isreal hating, anti american like obama running the country. The dirty anti american Soros and the jew hating arabs are deciding who is our president for us.

At $10, the US is in a depression. The price of food in major cities would be unthinkable. There would be a mass exodus out of populated areas and out in the country where you can grow your own.

Those unnecessary large SUV's will slowly start to disappear from the streets. Won't disappear completely but numbers will be greatly reduced. People will reconsider purchasing 6 Cylinder vehicles and purchase fuel economic 4 Cylinder. Local governments will be forced to update their infrastructure to allow for move efficient public transportation. I worked as a consultant for several oil related companies, as the demand went up this oil companies had already planed for a fast increase of the barrel price. I have documents dating back to 1999... yes, 1999 that already had the price set by open OPEC averaging $165 between September to December 2008. Scary enough, out of all the predictions that I saw they have been I say 90% accurate. Knowing about this estimates I replaced both my cars with fuel economic vehicles. Gas prices of at least $3.99 per regular gallon are here to stay.... I say WE USA will never see $2.00 a gal unl - UK yes pays more and has for years but UK taxes are three times what ours is and same with Canada tax GST and more is WHY there gas is so high....We have gas saving cars in the 70's OPEL was one but no longer here! We have cars that did over 35 mpg but they did away with them......Datson 510 37 mpg...... the list goes on what WE had...... Driving will be for the rich and well todo in 2009 and rail and bus servics need to get better real fast in the USA.......

ACT #1 = The Honorable Anti American Liberal Socialist Democrat Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said Exxon's annual profits increased from $11.5 billion to $40.6 billion in the past five years and there was no explanation for "why profits have gone up so high when the consumer is suffering so much." The five companies earned $36 billion in the first quarter of this year. ACT #2 = The Honorable Anti American Liberal Socialist Democrat Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., told the executives. "Yet you rack up record profits ... quarter after quarter after quarter." ACT #3 = The Honorable Anti American Liberal Socialist Democrat Sen. CLOSING ACT = The Honorable Anti American Liberal Socialist Democrat Leahy "The issue is simple," said Leahy. "People we represent are hurting, the companies you represent are profiting." OK, if I was the Oil Executives I would have told these vermin to go suck on a pacifier... These Oil CEO's should have told these vermin that the Executives job is to RUN A COMPANY AND MAKE PROFIT"!!!! Mr. Senator, DO YOU RUN THE GOVERNMENT AND MAKE A PROFIT???? Now, if I was the Oil Executive I would ALSO give these maggots a lesson in capitalism and lecture these maggots o with the following. Mr. Senator.. WHY is it that the Federal Government always picks on oil companies for making high profits when we have for 35 years have been TELLING you Liberals Democrats that we WANT to drill and build New refineries and oil wells in America which would eliminate dependence on foreign oil? Mr. Senator we are happy to report that YOUR QUESTIONS as to HOW MUCH I MAKE as the CEO of Exxon Mobil is NONE OF YOUR STINKING BUSINESS AND WHAT HAS THAT HAVE TO DO WITH THIS HEARING??? Aren't I in America where I am free to make $$$$$??? Mr. Senator, wy are you always blaming Big Oil for making a stinking .08 cents on each gallon of gasoline we sell??? Mr. Senator, Why are YOU taxing Americans 18.4 cents on each gallon of gasoline. Why in NYS are they taxing 60.8 cents on each gallon for a whopping total of 79.2 cents of TAXES on EACH GALLON OF GASOLINE SOLD TO AMERICANS??? Mr. Senator, WE DISCLOSED THAT WE MADE 36 BILLION combined this last quarter in profits. Please Mr. Senator, why don’t YOU tell Americans what YOU did with the $980 BILLION DOLLARS IN GASOLINE TAXES that YOU STEEL from AMERICANS each and every day??? YES, you see people, THESE vermin Liberal Democrats blame ANYONE except themselves for failure and high costs of gas but they NEVER tell YOU the real reasons why. RESEARCH the congressional records for the past 35 years and get a pen and paper and jot down each year as to which party has 100% blocked new drilling and building refineries and new Nuke plants . The TRUTH is out there but for some reason some Americans would prefer to keep their heads in the Liberal Democrats asses and think that they are being feed steak. Please remove the heads Americans and smell the fresh air. Again, Liberalism IS a Proven Mental Disorder and I cant wait until gasoline is $25.00 a gallon because that is what it will take to get Liberals Democrats to kill each other for their failed policies... Great post!!

What if ?? kinda scarey to think that it may if not far from $10/gallon. As someone mentioned - 10 speed shopping. I figure i'd lose alot of weight by doing alot more walking to the store, which sucks since we moved away from businesses. My job is secure and will get more secure if this happens, no doubt, but the house will get sold and we'll move to a more affordable home, the vehicles (when leases are up) will be traded to hybrids, no more eating out - coupons will be used all the time and it will be hamburg/chicken and mac/cheese. Oh, wait - we do that now :( Kids sports will be affected - less driving and as we have tightened the belt already by hardly ever shopping it will only get worse. I'm worried about those who may not have good paying jobs, because retailers will close, people will lose their jobs then homes. This isn't happening to just lazy people anymore, its happening to our friends/neighbors who are good hard-working people. Its a domino effect and its a grim one unfortunately and we all will suffer - well, all of us who are working families and not millionaires.

It doesn't matter who's in office, Dems or Reps, the gas prices are not going to go down and the American sheep will follow and pay it.

Well I nearly redesigned my 10 speed to have a sidecar so I can haul groceries from the store... a very powerful flashlight (LED) for a headlight for my bike and currently working on a taillight that can be seen a long distance.... I am retired not by choice but by health ... I am really disguisted with our politician , big business they both have turned their backs on the US citizen (working class)... I have always worked hard until my health went down ...etc ...I feel like I have been cheated ... I have never thought I would ever see the day where my fellow citizens are suffering like they are and more will as time goes by ... while Washington (or most politicians) are ignoring us. I am frustrated as the rest ... but have to keep going ... I wished I had the knowledge to apply the technology from the PRIUS (braking system) to produce electricity to power an electric motor ... this would help climb the real tall hills while using the bike or long distances... With that technology ... you could make a long bike trip in one day ... without using gas !!!

Not as stupid as you wrote: <quoted text> Remember those words when a lynch mob comes for you. When people are starving all civility goes out the window. Read about the French Revolution. Way things are going especially with oil ... I see that happening here dealing with the politicians and oil guys...
