Maybe $10/gallon gas WOULD be good, if it would fast-track nuclear energy and electric cars. You have to watch these nutcase environmentalists when you get busy with building nuclear energy plants, however, because I wouldn't put it past them to sabotage these plants. Environmentalists couldn't care less how many people suffer or die as long as they can save a tree or a bird. Case in point, when they worked to outlaw DDT, which led to the deaths of millions and millions of humans from malaria. The US needs to become energy self-sufficient, and nuclear power is the answer.

Gas will hit $6 by fall, so $10 is not that far off! The only solution America will have is the plug in hybrid electrics.

USA's time of being an energy pig is over... for decades we have been spoiled and have pigged out on cheap energy ... geese, maybe no more Hummers, Escalades, 5 liter Mustangs, etc. Japan has paid more than $10 / gal for some time... welcome to the real world... bye-bye F-350's with flair sides and duels!

It's economic terrorism and the "American" oil execs are fronting it! The true enemy of America is the oil executives and their outrageous profits.

Wal-mart HURTS our economy and forces jobs overseas.

Funny how all of this never came up until Bush and Cheney took office. Two oil men..okay. Oil was $25 a barrel when they were sworn in and gas was $1.46 a gallon. I remember Cheney saying the invasion of Iraq would help our oil supply. I guess it did. The worldwide increase in oil consumption in the last year is 1%, but the price of crude has doubled. Somehow, the law of supply and demand isn't working.

I have taken cash positions on everything, Not letting the whales shave away the value of my 401k anymore, not losing seeing the value of my IRA deflate as the currency devalues anymore. I have a years supply of necessities. yes I have to take a 10% IRS hit on cashing out my retirement savings, but it's smarter to cash it out now because what is really going on in this country is system wide "wealth destruction". We are heading for another great depression. Everything is just as it was happening before the last one. Except the stock market is being propped up by all the cheap money the FED is just printing with no backing and then lending the speculator "investment bankers", who then manipulate the market, drive up the price of oil by bidding up the price of oil futures. The Fed is giving them the rope to strangle us all. Wise up people, or you deserve to suffer your fate for being stupid and complacent. Thids is nthe rape of America by the greed of the few. Capitalism run amok, no checks or balances. They are laughing at you all the way to the bank. We used to be a land of the courageous, now we are just a land of idiots.

Travel less, make each trip count. Keep growing my garden with heritage seed, Lots of canning food, Always have 1 cow in the pasture and a pig in the pen, free range my chickens in the spring/summer/fall except for a few layers, Heat my home with the wood stove, Use my wood stove for cooking more, Get a few more solar panels, Go to bed at sunset and rise with the sun. And enjoy living in rural America :)

I have lived overseas where gas price has been over $6 for many years. What will happen is that people will adapt. There is some good things that will come from high price of fuel. Those unnecessary large SUV's will slowly start to disappear from the streets. Won't disappear completely but numbers will be greatly reduced. People will reconsider purchasing 6 Cylinder vehicles and purchase fuel economic 4 Cylinder. Local governments will be forced to update their infrastructure to allow for move efficient public transportation. I worked as a consultant for several oil related companies, as the demand went up this oil companies had already planed for a fast increase of the barrel price. I have documents dating back to 1999... yes, 1999 that already had the price set by open OPEC averaging $165 between September to December 2008. Scary enough, out of all the predictions that I saw they have been I say 90% accurate. Knowing about this estimates I replaced both my cars with fuel economic vehicles. Gas prices of at least $3.99 per regular gallon are here to stay....
