Generally speaking though I have to say that of all the cities I have visited throughout Europe and America, Cape Town has to be the most laid back and welcoming. The people are genuine, friendly and couteous -so different from the false plastic attitudes that predominate New York and the like. So don't put off your visit. Plan your trip carefully and enjoy a beautiful country.

I've been so South Africa once before, to Durban to be precise. I didn't experience any problems whilst there but I was told many stories by my friends over there about how they were held up at gunpoint in their own homes for a mobile phone. The fact that I'm white didn't seem to have any bearing on how good or bad my time was there and I wasn't treated any differently than I would expect to be treated by my own family. My friends are Indian and live in Chatsworth. I'm due to visit again in a couple of months but dues to some stories I've heard, I can't help feeling anxious. Is this with good reason?
Does anyone know about Chatsworth and crime there?
