Lets hope all this goes in the right direction.
2 new governments with new, positive ideas is the best chance yet for the Solomons to progress into a self-supporting nation.
Forget the bleatings in the wings from Sogovare. The sooner his illegal and unconstitutional past activities are dealt with, the better off the Solomons will be, and only RAMSI can do this. Sogovare knows this and is still an influence so he cannot be simply dismissed. Due processes of justice must be carried out completely.
This is also the chance for other struggling Pacific nations to come on board. This almost happened in PNG but when those in power discovered that RAMSI was an incorruptible machine that acts without fear or favour they quickly kicked them out. Such is the power of corruption and by looking around at the various nations in the Pacific, seeing who is well-off and who isn't, one can draw a remarkable parallel with the levels of corruption that exists.
RAMSI is now one of the most valuable assets in the Pacific region. It has a clearly-recognized level of trust and incorruptibility with those who have been directly exposed to it. Despite criticisms that it is immune from the law it dispenses, its own laws are more rigid and it dispenses them on its own people harshly. This is what sets RAMSI above all other local jurisdictions.
This unique formula of many contributing Pacific nations has had a profound 2-way effect. Not only is it bringing peace and stability to the Solomons, it is allowing contributing nations who are lagging behind others in policing methodology to get their members up to speed with later skills and techniques. It's a win-win situation for all and needs to become the basis of a permanent future Pacific solution.
Lets hope this happens at the next forum.
