Gentrification Has Made This Old Brooklyn Neighborhood Unrecognizable

Full story: Silicon Alley Insider

This umbrella term for three adjacent neighborhoods near downtown Brooklyn - Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens - is perhaps the final stage of the process that turned "South Brooklyn," so named when the area was still farmland, into one of the most expensive and highly-regarded areas in all of New York City.

Don't feel so self righteous and special, because i'm sure you had nothing to do with these changes.

Sure I have! Just being a white working educated artsy person and living in Brooklyn is a positive thing. All of the dangerous filthy pieces of vermin who have lived or do live in Bklyn are getting priced out thank god. Next they should tear down those dangerous projects and the murder rate shall go down considerably!

Well it's nice that you live in a good way, but there's no extra credit for that because you’re SUPPOSED too. You are not pro-active; you just beat your chest to the tune of other people’s accomplishments. And I have some sad new for you, if that neighborhood only had white people in it, you guys would be victimizing each other like a bunch of cannibals. Lol, you think being white makes you better? Have you ever seen a trailer park? White trash stinks like no other Lmao. So go and enjoy your $15 “grass fed” burger and carry on with your “Artsy Person” want-to-be crap. Minorities and Projects are the flavor of that city, if there were only white people, nobody would want to live there because it would be lame, just like you…

I was and am today a supporter of the "Henry Street Settlement Project" . It is a proven fact of it's success was the prototype for the ongoing development in these Brooklyn neighborhoods. The demographics have changed dramatically financially as well as ethnicity . That's all I have to say, come up with your own opinion.

I agree, kids rule thier parents these days. I don't think the lack of discipline is the only problem, but it is one of many, and a huge one at that.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Aquarius

Someone is confused and muddled today, making it difficult to talk for long without becoming equally bemused. Avoid making decisions or researching important information, because there's a strong possibility of getting crossed wires, or talking at cross purposes. A memory may also be distorted now, leading to mix-ups or bewilderment.
