A couple of these ships could launch enough missiles to sink the entire Russian Black Sea fleet and knock out much of the Russian air power. The Russians, in turn could fire many more missiles, but the number of targets available to be hit is far more limited. It would be an extremely foolish thing for them to do that.

Russia is more isolated, less trusted and less respected than two weeks ago,'' Miliband , British Foreign Minister said.
That aint selling anymore. Russians are safer, more emboldened and ready for whatever the west has to offer..........militarily or cloak and dagger. The interception and seizure of military aid and rebuilding in the aftermath of a blatant act of war and aggression on 8.8.8. is in keeping with the safety of Russia's citizens from further aggression until western powers state thier intentions fully and clearly for meddling in the region.
This is Russia before America was born. It wasnt until 1992 as the west's agitation in the Balkans caused polarities there, that people came to power in Georgia who began to inflame the previously non existant 'etnic tensions' between Georgians and South Osc. peoples. This schizm of ethnicity previously did not exist.
Gates two months ago attempted to get permission to go around the Department of State and directly train proxy Armies such as this example shows. Not to fight imagined terrorists. But to destablize and even ruthlessly kill innocent people.

Listen to the sound of your own complaint Mr. Milibrand.
America and Britain are more isolated, less respected even at home and abroad for continueing British Empire Status under another guise.

AMANWITHANEDGE wrote: For 23 combat missions (an estimated 20 hours over enemy territory), the U.S. Navy awarded McCain a Silver Star, a Legion of Merit for Valor, a Distinguished Flying Cross, three Bronze Stars, two Commendation medals plus two Purple Hearts and a dozen service medals. "McCain had roughly 20 hours in combat," explains Bill Bell, a veteran of Vietnam and former chief of the U.S. Office for POW/MIA Affairs -- the first official U.S. representative in Vietnam since the 1973 fall of Saigon. "Since McCain got 28 medals," Bell continues, "that equals out to about a medal-and-a-half for each hour he spent in combat. There were infantry guys -- grunts on the ground -- who had more than 7,000 hours in combat and I can tell you that there were times and situations where I'm sure a prison cell would have looked pretty good to them by comparison. The question really is how many guys got that number of medals for not being shot down." During his relative short stunt on flight status, McCain III lost five U.S. Navy aircraft, four in accidents and one in combat. McCain III lost jet number one in 1958 when he plunged into Corpus Christi Bay while practicing landings. He was knocked unconscious by the impact coming to as the plane settled to the bottom. McCain's second crash occurred while he was deployed in the Mediterranean. "Flying too low over the Iberian Peninsula, took out some power lines which led to a spate of newspaper stories in which he was predictably identified as the son of an admiral." McCain's third crash three occurred when he was returning from flying a Navy trainer solo to Philadelphia for an Army-Navy football game. McCain radioed, "I've got a flameout" and went through standard relight procedures three times before ejecting at one thousand feet. McCain landed on a deserted beach moments before the plane slammed into a clump of trees. McCain's fourth aircraft loss occurred July 29, 1967, soon after he was assigned to the USS Forrestal as an A-4 Skyhawk pilot. While seated in the cockpit of his aircraft waiting his turn for takeoff, an accidently fired rocket slammed into McCain's plane. He escaped from the burning aircraft, but the explosions that followed killed 134 sailors, destroyed at least 20 aircraft, and threatened to sink the ship. McCain's fifth loss happened during his 23rd mission over North Vietnam on Oct. 26, 1967, when McCain's A-4 Skyhawk was shot down by a surface-to-air missile. McCain ejected from the plane breaking both arms and a leg in the process and subsequently parachuted into Truck. you left wing socialist code pink hopefully your a felon and can't vote!

Then the "freedom fighters" blew up the twin towers 9/11 nice move ronnie. It would not suprise me if the Russians would now help the Taliban in return. US foreign policy is one of our worst enemies. Go figure! Also some people think that NATO only has "coast guard" humanitarian ships in the Black sea. Not so at least one US ship is a guided missile war ship. We need to stay out of the Russians face or they can make things difficult for the US in many places! the "freedom fighters" were not "terrorists" then, nor are the "freedom fighters" terrorists NOW. The "freedom fighters" were called teh Mujahadeen, and AFTER the United States stopped supplying support to the "Mujahadeen" the "Taliban" (funded mostly by Saudi Arabia) seized control of the majority of "Afghanistan." The "freedom fighters" (who still were'nt "terrorists" now) became the "Northern Alliance," led bby Ahmad Shah Masood (a nobel "peace prize" nominee), who was "assasinated" by the "Taliban" (terrorists) and Al-Queda (terrorists again, actually, Bin Ladin ordered the hit.) You should read up a bit on the northern alliance. Where did they come from? How did they manage to hold off the Taliban for so long with pracically nothing? Who FUNDED them? The Saudis funded the Taliban, the United States was'nt spending anymore money in Afghanistan.... how did they manage to maintain autonomy?
