A U.S. military ship loaded with aid docked at a southern Georgian port Wednesday, and Russia sent three missile boats to another Georgian port as the standoff escalated over a nation devastated by war with Russia.

Maybe we can send Pres. Carter over to negotiate a truce. He could offer the Russians something, maybe give them Poland or some other soverign land instead. That might please Putin and his mouse Medvedev.

Obama and Medvedev would get along well, two puppets doing as they are told by their masters.

Russia does not need Poland or any land. it has so much land and resources already. US need Russia's Gas that's why George Bush wants war their. He thinks his success in occupying Iraq will also work in Russia. Deploy missile shield in eastern europe and helping georgia to bomb women and children in south ossetia are just but a prelude of George Bush plan. Of course behind George Bush are Rice, Cheney, "the corporation", UK and israel.

Give me a break! No one, not even the most die hard war mongers have any desire for an all out confrontation with Russia. The most they want is forceful and unpleasant yet complete and severe containment of Russia.

Your absolutely right! Carter, O'Bama and his Nubian princess, Michelle, can all agree to give Putin(and his step son Medvedev) all of the former Soviet satellite states BUT most importantly give Putin the "other" Georgia, especially Atlanta. This way the reconstitution of the Soviet Empire will implode from within in a matter of several years. The USA will benefit because it would "slow" our downfall by a few years and everyone can be happy!

GO V'lad, Go! PLEASE take the other Georgia too!

I'm sure neocons want confrontation, but they try to do this by other's hands - Georgia, Ukraine, and other proxy states.
If you'll read some news from Russia and Ukraine, you'll see, that Ukraine's US-puppet president is trying to do his best to confront Russia (situation around Black Sea Fleet and ethnic russians in Crimea East Ukraine).

Ours isn't a Navy vessel. It's a Coast Guard cutter. The biggest gun it might have is a .50 cal. and only 1-2 of those.

The point is if we were worried about a showdown as the article suggests, we prolly would have sent something a little more combative than a law enforcement vessel.

that remark could be a hate crime in u.s. people better wake up...russia was fooled once by germany,,,they will not be fooled by the u.s.a..common sense would be no matter how you feel about race,,,you dont send a black woman,,to talk to other goverments,,that dont even allow women or blacks to vote,,like middle east,,,russia will not let u.s. push our life style down on them,,,they can see the u.s.a. turning into a third world goverment,,,with a large miltary,,,yes russia and the rest of the world better be worried,,,

I disagree. War with Russia may very well prove to be a necessity to keep them from establishing hegemony in the middle east. No one reads a map nowdays.
