Plenty of Republicans did though, it was retired because they wanted to replace it with their super DDX Destroyers that were complete pork filled failures that weren't even wanted to begin with. If the marines ever have to do any beach landings in the future they will have almost no real artillery support. |

No this was back when the Republicans ruled Congress. The Navy didn't even need the ships but Congress told them "Yes you do, now give those defense contractors billions of dollars." (over 10 billion over the past 13 years) And they are only building 3 now, each which costs 3.5 Billion. 150 doesn't equal "Gone". That 150 could destroy any 3rd world Air force on the planet, most likely with no losses. |
