"We are aware that a crushing majority of people in Poland is opposed to the bases just as in the Czech Republic," said the group's spokesman Jan Majicek.

The Czech government began negotiations on the base with the U.S. early last year, despite sharp criticism from Russia and opposition from two thirds of the Czech population."

And what about so-called "democracy"?

It is high time people in Russia understood a fact--Communism was and is a failed system and, until you change and rid yourself of all your KGB agents out of government, more particulary Putin and his cohorts, and became a democracy, you will remain a second-rate (or even a lesser rate) country.

A few Czechs are still under a mental cloud perpetrated by 40 years of having to live under your failed system but, at least, a lot of them are now fighting for their freedom and democracy.

Get a life!!

I don't understand why countries in Europe are distancing from the only super power left in the world for now.(For now...)
And Europe will side with America once China shows aggresion to the world once it grows stronger militarily and economically.

So this is the chance to show that Europe will side with America.

LOL...You are very confused. Russia hasn't been under Communist rule since it's independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.
I believe Russia already tried the type of "democracy" you describe under Yeltsin.
I wouldn't wish this type of democracy on my worst enemy.
There is no KGB in Russia. The organization has been disbanded in 1995.
President Putin, within seven short years has turned Russia from a have not country to an economically stable nation. He has the support of the people of Russia.
Your comments are nothing more than an exercise in emotional masterbation.

Who the hell is Bush to think he has the right to threaten other countries, attack them, grab their natural resources and so on? There never was any "democracy" in international relationship, if you don't know it.

No, there aren't any communists ruling Russia.
Russia is a young democracy and like any democratic country, has its challenges which are being dealt with transparency and for the good of it's people.
Carbon credits and footprints are issues that the Russian government takes very seriously. Environmental issues are at the forefront of all great nations including Russia.
President Putin, has not only the right, but a duty to protect his country and people against any threats of aggression.
If these ex-Soviet states have a problem with Russia defending herself against them, then perhaps they shouldn't become a threat to the security of the Russian Federation and her people. It's as simple as that.
It would appear that Australia has a few problems with human rights issues

The British have been trying to have Putin's murderous thug extradited to England to face charges over the murder and you say it is a conspiracy theory!!!! If it is such a conspiracy then return the thug and let him have his day in court--you may then learn the truth.

You have been under the control of your criminal KGB-types for too long and wouldn't have a clue about democracy, ethics or morals as the Communists have corrupted any country who has had the bad luck of being under their control. How can you rationalize when your whole being has been under the control of these criminals - that's all you know and there is truth in the saying "A lie repeated 10 times becomes the truth".

Putin and his cronies cannot face the fact that they are irrelevant in today's society--their corrupt evil criminal system was broken and thrown on the trash heap in 1989 to remain there forever. We can thank Pope Paul 2, President Regand and Mrs. Thatcher mainly for removing this cancer from the face of the earth.

Again I repeat - who does KGB Putin and his cronies think they are trying to impress strutting and threatening former "slaves" (Poland, Czechoslovakia et al) with missiles? They should tie their missiles to their backs and fire away--good riddance to them!!!

You state "Russia is defending itself against the threat of aggression". Who is threatening them - they are the ones who are threatening as that is the only tactic they know.

I do hope that they can see their "carbon footprints" -- if you believe this global warming garbage they you have not come out of your hashish daze. Global warming -- the past summer is the one of the coldest and wettest that Sydney and many other areas have experienced on record--take a look around the world and tell me we are in global warming.

You are being influenced by the lies emanating from the UN (our great debating society). Third- World types dressed in their cashmere suits, sipping their tea and doing nothing to improve the plight of areas of the world needing protection. The UN should go the way of the League of Nations--millions of dollars are being wasted on the third-world leadership of this organization.

Take a look at the African nations where hordes are being murdered by the despots ruling them, once wealthy and prospering countries brought to their knees by governments who wouldn't have a clue how to govern except to rob their citizens and fill their own coffers. What took Europeans 200 years to build has been ruined in less than 20 years by our coloured "African leaders" (they couldn't couldn't run a chook run let alone a country).

As far as Australia having problems with human rights -- dahhhhhh! you believe the Labour leftists who are now in power and who will soon have Australia in a downward spiral once the leftists have started to implement their programs. At present they are basking in the prosperity built up by the previous conservative Government.
