They better fix this one fast because ordinary Chinese are totally outraged by the criminal low life's that did this.

A political party claims the "leading role in state and society", extends its tentacles throughout the entire nation, co-opts anyone who is intending to accomplish anything in their life, tracks and controls the movement of its people, controls and manipulates information, media, and education to portray itself in an often false favorable light, jails critics and opponents, owns all property in the nation......

Um, in case you didn't notice, but China is capitalist now. In such a society, private company are responsible for their own supply and quality control as every other company in US. Government does carry the responsibility to over see food safety similar to what FDA does in US. That part of responsibility does lie with the government and those responsible are removed after investigation like the head of China's Food Bureau. That is call proper procedure.

The government does have questions to answer and they seem to be reporting in a pretty open way. I don't see any sign it's being covered up. Hu Jintao himself said that the government needs to lift it's game in a very open and frank speech made last week.

More than I can say for western politicians who are almost never critical of themselves and almost always look for a scape goats.
