Australia's 550 Troops Will Return Home From Iraq

...THE Ausia's did a great job in training those soldiers...now if they can with stand up to the insurgent's from with in their group...

I hope new iraqi troops will stay away from corruption and do their duties.

There are several theories but the most accepted one is:

WWI ANZAC troops were expert at digging tunnels between their own trenches and the enemies, so they came to called 'diggers' and the name stuck.

Also, there were many ex-gold diggers in the early army units.

no australians died. were they fighting? Why did you take saddam OUT? it definitely wasn't because of his human rights abuse? in light of 100 + years to decide to make an apology, australian good moral values are were still in a bit blurred during period.

I firmly believe that the USA is probably one of the only countries that learned anything after WW2 and thats if something is festering up you had better get rid of it sooner or later. Europe let Hitler roll all over them because they were two stupid or to chicken to do anything when he was festering up. The USA had to come in and save the day and the death toll was huge on both sides. The whole thing could have been prevented. Thats why the USA is the ONLY country taking a PROACTIVE approach towards preventing this. 4000 KIA's are alot better than 100,000.

A bit more respect for the Aussie soldiers, and soldiers from other countries, that also fought in the wards Thank You. The U.S. DID NOT fight the war ON THEIR OWN! Or 'save the day' ON THEIR OWN. A lot of Americans don't agree with you, BTW.
