2 The skills, neighborliness, energy, wit and wisdom that you see through the small windows of that little car exist in an abundance that could change their world if they ever had the chance. " Maybe that chance is coming. Maybe". 'These folk'( us the Cubans) under a democracy will be able to acomplish everything.Just given a fair chance under a democracy and with an open market economy! The Cubans will rebuild the nation again! We will build a new Cuba .An example of what Cuban's drive, hard work and witts are able to do!We will be an example for others to follow in Latin America and in other parts of this world!!The 'changes' are coming.Faster than what we may believe! |

Cuba was the second country in the world to begin airing color tv programs. As a barometer of how much Cuba was floureshing, tv technology says a lot. In 1952, Cuba started black and white tv programs, second in latin america. in 1958, color tv. But, fidel took power in 01/01/1959 and stopped color tv transmission and so Cuba went back to black and white television. Then, it wasn't until the 70's that Cuba went back again to color tv. Even like that, people still have black and white tv sets made in russia. So, TV technology is an example of the economical damage Fidel caused in Cuba. He bascially destroyed it just because he likes having power in his hands. Never mind the fact that all that colonial classical architecture we have in Cuba is falling apart, people strugle for transportation, and you can't talk about these issues because the system this devil created will make your life impossible (people spying you, not given government jobs, which all jobs are government controlled). You make a demonstration against the system and you'll go to jail for sure. You get the picture: economical destruction, poverty, social degradation poverty caused, no freedom of expression, one political party, destruction of the constitutional government we once had. Finally, ending trading with the USA was suicide because the Cuban economy was based on that. It's really amazing how much damaged this devil caused in Cuba.
We need a constitutional government and to have a system that closely resembles that of the USA and Canada. Not to mention the Greeks were the first to do this in the ancient world. The only solution I see is hope that McCain will invade Cuba and create a new government like it was done in Iraq. On the other hand, if Obama is elected president, he will lift the embargo and maybe Americans will see a great potential in Cuba and advocate for a free Cuba. We'll see. Viva Cuba Libre |

2 "The US government promoted, and enabled, the overthrow of a legally elected government in a 1933 "Sergeant's Coup" by Fulgenico Batista and his minions. Batista went on to form allegiances with gangster Meyer Lansky, Lucky Luciano, Frank Costello, Vito Genovese, Santo Trafficante Jr., Moe Dalitz and others." "On March 10, 1952, almost twenty years after the Revolt of the Sergeants, Batista took over the government once more, this time against elected Cuban president Carlos Prío Socorras. The coup took place three months before the upcoming elections that he was sure to lose. Also running in that election (for a different office) was a young, energetic lawyer named Fidel Castro. On March 27 Batista's government was formally recognized by U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower." "Shortly after this recognition, Batista declared that, although he was completely loyal to Cuba's constitution of 1940, constitutional guarantees would have to be temporarily suspended, as well as the right to strike. In April, writes Hugh Thomas in THE CUBAN REVOLUTION, "Batista proclaimed a new constitutional code of 275 articles, claiming that the 'democratic and progressive essence' of the 1940 Constitution was preserved in the new law." In short, the same US government that now upholds the embargo in the name of restoring democracy, enabled the overthrow of legally elected Cuban govenments by the same petty dictator (Batista) twice because they could do business with him.. The US government demonstrated clearly that it had no real intention to support democracy. Only the pretext of supporting democracy was important so take a deep breath and read a little history before you start spouting about commies, etc. More reading on same at: http://www.thescreamonline.com/essays/essays4... Should Cuba return to democracy? Absolutely! But it should be on Cuban terms, not "Uncle Sugar's." |

1 Ana_Ana there are lots of Cubans with brains in Cuba. Castro shipped most of those with low IQ levels to the US. Look what they did to Miami, PR and New Jersey? Ana-Ana I agree completly the dark skinned Cubans in PR and NJ should be returned and included in the new Cuba. By the way tripper did you see WJDC boat in the BVI? Hysterical! What about the political prisoners you were so adament about in the past. They too should be included I think. |

Your view in just the same as Castro...he thinks black and cubans in the island are stupid..but tell me who is going to contradict him in Cuba??? only disidents and oppositors..like Yoany, Gorki( tried to give him 4 years sentence) and many more already in jail for life..... Communist countries's people live under oppression and slavery. So we take the steps here in USA and the rest of the free world..denouncing Castro's doing!!! |
