Travel Tales: The Oregon Coast

This is terrific writing. I lived in Oregon for 8 years and now I want to return.

I've never been to Oregon, but this was a grea article..Now I know exactly where to go!

The Oregon dunes really are spectacular. I tried biking the coast last summer and had a ball! What a beautiful part of the country.

I've lived in California and Oregon and have to say that Oregon's coastline is cleaner, less crowded and more dramatic. Great article!

I grew up in Coos Bay...lived in Europe for 3 1/2 years and then Australia for 2 years. Both awesome places for sure, but the Oregon coast is where it is at for me. I live in the valley now but only because this is where my job led me. If I could, I'd be back on the coast.

Need I say more? Oregon is the absolute worst state in the Union with the meanest, nastiest most unfriendly people ever. It is also wet, rainy, overcast and DEPRESSING for 11 months out of the year.

The remaining 1 month is blisteringly hot and incredibly muggy. There is nothing good in Oregon.

I have proposed repeatedly that we, the good citizens of the USA and you know who we are, sell Oregon in favor of, say, the Bahamas. We could use a nice, relaxing vacation destination which the pathetic little towns of the Oregon coast (don't make me laugh...oh darn, too late ROTFLMAO) can't hold a match too much less an entire candle.

That doesn't mean that Oregon is as dirt cheap (Oregon, the land of raping the earth usually goes into a big unemployment funk) as it used to be which used to be its ONLY attraction. Oregon is expensive and not worth the money.

That is the truth about Oregon. It is shameful that people lie about Oregon in order to rope in tourists and immigrants. Well, of course, you have to be white to be an immigrant to Oregon, no one else need apply or some fat cop will harass you to the nth degree.

Shameful. Say 100 Hail Marys and promise not to lie again.

Oregon attraction:

- unemployment
- rain, 1000 hours per year more than any other metropolitan area in the country. I am talking about Portland as Salem is just a joke.
- hicks in overalls
- female hicks in overalls who are indistinguishable from the male ones
- mud
- people who are really, really, really slow....just try and get a meal served...OMG.
- ugly people with pasty faces and rather round bodies.
- massive traffic congestion which is amazing since there are so few people in Oregon. They do congregate around Washington state trying to escape into Vancouver which is now ugly and infested with Oregonians.
- indifferent food. Oregon used to be a haven for foodies but the food has gone way down in the last decade. The wine is ok but often hugely overpriced and now being eclipsed by many others.
- corruption
- homeless
- meth heads
- soccer moms who are probably meth heads or just act as if they are out of their blooming minds
- horrible drivers
- stupid city governments
- stupid city governments...worth repeating as Oregon has no visible planning
- ugly, vinyl houses everywhere....rip up a mountain, kill the animals, topple the trees and build the ugliest vinyl homes on really small plots....welcome to the density of NYC without the height!

Oregon is a mess, it is a blooming mess.

OK, I say just give it away to, maybe, Saudi Arabia in exchange for a few oil tankers. SA has lots of money and will buy anything these days.

It is the most depressed state I have ever seen.
And all of the reasons are posted above.
I am so tired of poor customer service
and mean people.

Please get me out of here!!!!

Heck, Oregonians might do well to try just one rung up and copy, say, Texans.

Oregon, the worst state for vacations....better to go to New Jersey.

Nazis have been leafleting Oregon, again. The Tualatin Valley Skins (and perhaps Volksfront) have been leafleting Eugene neighborhoods.

Racist flyers have been appearing in Eugene driveways, according to the REGISTER-GUARD. The flyers are, in many cases, identical to those available for download on the Tualatin Valley Skins’ website, the appealingly-named “nukeisrael.com.” The site carries this comforting disclaimer:“This site is for educational use only... It should not be considered legal advice, always consult a lawyer about any specific case. The information should not be considered an endorsement of violent or criminal acts.”

It also specifically refers to a Eugene leafleting project, and gives instructions on the flyers that is identical to the Register-Guard’s report of racist hate flyers “found in driveways wrapped in plastic bags that also contained gravel -- a method of distribution recommended on the Web site.”

The Skinhead site gives instructions on leafleting:

“Everyone seems to have their favorite method of distribution. We prefer the 3-5AM drops throughout white suburbia. Like a ghost we appear and toss flyers on peoples lawns or driveways and exit without being seen. Sometimes we target their morning newspaper. When people go out to get the jewspaper they will also get our skinhead flyers.”

And it gives the rationale for the campaign:“

“New Member Initiation: The Tualatin Valley Skins has developed a rather unique system for weeding out narks and other traitorous vermin scum. The membership process involves going through an orientation followed by several initiation flyer distributions.

JEER A road sign acknowledging the American Nazi Party's contribution to the Adopt-A-Highway program in Oregon is stirring up controversy. The group has every right to do its part for the environment by picking up trash on their designated road, but those opposed to the sign are overlooking a very important question - why the hell is there an American Nazi Party in the first place? Instead of writing letters of complaint, the citizens of Oregon should clean every inch of road in the state, thus relegating those Nazi bastards back to high school history class where they belong.
