This uncertainty is what I believe is largely responsible for a sputtering economy. And, this is certainly not helped in anyway, fashion or form by the partisanship gamesmanship in Congress.
See it anyway that floats your boat, Jeff, but I don't think this all rests on Barack Obama's shoulders by a long shot. All he needs to do is get tough and committed to his own program without being so tenuous about it. We could have "crashed" without TARP. We can still crash if you think it's a good idea. We can let the automatic spending cuts kick in and move back into a deep Recession or even a Depression. We can get this suffering on big time in our lifetimes and spare the children, or we can start fixing the problems with a combination of spending cuts coupled with revenue increases - both necessary to pay down our debt. What won't restore America is enriching one small group of men at the expense of every other income sector in America, because what would be created is unmotivated hopeless people who cannot see how their hard work has any potential at all to pay off and thus loses its' meaning.
