Platitudes and slander. Slander and platitudes. Smoke and mirrors.

When is Romney going to release his tax returns for prior years? Will that happen when he announces his running mate? After all, that running mate will be supplying Romney with 10 years of his/her own tax records so that Romney can properly vet him.

Somehow, we aren't supposed to expect the same from the nominee, himself? Why do the rich believe they're above it all? He seems to think that because he is so wealthy, he shouldn't have to be forthcoming. Yes, I suppose the rich really are different. For example, it was perfectly fine for him to try and contain health care costs and coverage in Massachusetts, but he has never mentioned exactly how he would go about assisting America with the problem. Aside from trying to overturn the ACA, what would Romney do? Nothing? If not, it will continue to consume more and more of the budget - one way or the other. If he has something in mind, why not share it with the American people?

America as we know it—wealthy, powerful, assertive—is not what Obama wants. He wants a smaller America, a poorer America, an America unable to exert its will, an America happy to be one power among many, an America in decline so that other nations might rise—all in the name of global fairness. To Obama, the hated "one percent" isn't just wealthy Americas; it is America itself. In Obama's view, America needs to be taken down a notch.

As soon as the prez turns over the info F&F, and of course, the Security Council leaks, then talk about Romney. Our relationships with other nations has been compromised, countless operatives have been harmed (you think we'll ever hear from the guy who assisted us in the Iran hacking job again? I doubt we'll ever hear from his family, either. Iran does know how to make a point)

The "I'm not a crook" Axelrod, Obama and Carney mantra is wearing a bit thin. The president has demonstrated time and time again, he and the rest his troop weren't ready for prime time. He needs to go.

Oh, for gawd's sake. You apparently think I have a hidden agenda, regardless of the fact that I've had the same agenda from the beginning of posting on Topix: a level playing field for Americans for jobs and opportunity. What part of that message am I failing to convey. There is no smoke or mirrors when I have consistently made that clear - that's my agenda. What is yours?

Vance, I want EVERY SINGLE CAPABLE American to have a job. I want them to self-support just like I did, and not just because I did. I want that for them because they will have dignity and self-esteem. I see clearly that we have some pretty darned big problems with getting that to happen. Some the same people who say they want people to work for their livings also want to make it twice as hard for them to do that.

You leave it to employers as to how much they feel like paying. Well, history tells us that if there's five willing workers for every job, the job won't pay very well because employers don't have to compete for workers. There's a glut of those folks standing there begging for a job (in order to be self-supporting).

At any rate, I don't know what you think my agenda is, but I think you probably have the wrong idea. I want every capable American child of every hue to get a shot at a good education. I want them to get out there and contribute to making America a better place. I want American workers to have opportunities in America that should be reserved for Americans in America and the legal immigrants we've agreed to welcome - not the folks who came illegally. I also expect that when our government decides to globalize the economy and outsource or eliminate a man's job right out from under him, that they at least have the common decency to see that he and his family don't starve and to do WTH they said they would do when they shipped his job out - retrain him and assist him in getting another job.

I don't expect that just because you HAVE more money (however you acquired it), you should expect to pay a lesser percentage of your income than the people who work for a paycheck by virtue of corrupting Congress into passing special benefits for you. I just don't think you're THAT special, but I salute you for your accomplishmenst in creating wealth (mostly for yourself). That's fine. That's Capitalism at work. I certainly don't think you have any right to prosper by foisting your responsibility for your workers onto the backs of other Americans, most of whom are (or once were) middle-class themselves. Why should taxpayers FUND your workers' healthcare and food on the table so that you can realize even more profit at our expense? Why is it okay for you to continue hiring illegal cheaper labor over Americans and legal immigrants?

Now, what part of this seems like Marxism or some other ism to you?

Then why is this administration offering up foodstamps to Mexican nationals and migrant communities in America??? We need to scale down the rolls of people who are abusing this system, and here we are offering them to non-citizens. How insane is this?

It's your opinion, your mantra. Now, you know that there are facts that don't line up with your demands. There will be no further F&F information released. That's over with, and it's legal. The public perception is that the President is a better man at foreign affairs than Mr. Romney. Mr. Romney has not done much to contradict them to date. We are in sync with our European allies under Obama.

Could you please post a link to an expert opinion that backs up your contention that our relationships with other nations have been compromised under Obama's tenure? How bad could it be versus the world's consensus of America the brute under George Bush? The world was so relieved at his departure that Barack Obama immediately won the Nobel Peace Prize, mainly because there was an audible sigh of relief around the world. The saber rattling instantly ceased. There is no basis for attributing any security breach directly to the President, himself. Do you have a credible source saying he is directly involved or was aware of that kind of breech?

If the President is a "crook", but all means bring the proof forward and impeach him. Who has he swindled? The clock is still ticking, and all I read is more lies and insinuations - just like the birther movement. Bring forward facts, not slander.

Like most Americans themselves, illegal immigrant adults can't get foodstamps unless there are children involved. Pity the single middle-aged male who is unemployed. What's there for him? We routinely feed the American born children of illegals. We feed American chldren, and if they live among foreign born children, we feed those children too. Their mothers eat because otherwise the children wouldn't eat. I didn't say it was right, but it is what it is. You know I have a proposal that would help end the demand for taxpayer funded subsidy. Of course, the President also has a plan, one that would legitimize the demand but not reduce it. I don't agree with his plan. It seems like both sides of the aisle don't mind pushing their labor needs off on the backs of taxpayers to keep the labor costs low for business - and high for taxpayers. They talk without finding a permanent solution. If either side was serious, mandatory E-Verify would already have been signed into law.

If hard work made people rich, we wouldn't have an blue collar labor. If hard work, rather than clever manipulations and snake oil salesmen was the rule, America's middle-class would be prospering. They are one of the most productive work forces in the world.

Do you think those investment banks that sold those underwater mortgage backed securiites deserved to be bailed out? How about the bonuses they received thereafter? How about the lovely homes they bought in the Hamptons with those bonuses you and I provided.

If I go out and gamble a week's wages on lottery tickets and come up empty, can I write it off my taxes? If I go out and buy a racehorse and he steps in a hole in the pasture and has to be put down, I can write off his cost, the cost of the veterinarian (or bullet) and the cost of having his carcass moved off the property. Something really wrong with that, Vance. It sucks.

This is a good day for concentrating on activities that boost your self-esteem and sense of satisfaction. Do the very best job you can manage, partly for your own sense of pride and partly because it's important for you that bosses and superiors know what you're capable of. There should be good news about a pay rise, perk or a new job that's in the pipeline.
