One of my friends just died from AIDS-he was white, straight, and infected by a blood transfusion way back in the day. He lived twenty-three years with HIV, and during that whole time, he didn't have sex with anybody-he didn't want to take the chance of infecting somebody else. When he became too weak to clean his own house, he still struggled out of bed every day to wrap his razors and put them in a sharps container, because he was THAT paranoid about killing someone else. He worked from home his last five years, because he wanted to pay his own way. So, please, let's not make out like all AIDS victims are irresponsible, lazy, state-teat-sucking hos, all right? It's insulting-not only to the intelligence of the general population, but also to the memories of a lot of really good, decent people.
So, I'd like to propose Glenn's solution to the AIDS problem. He believed that HIV testing should be mandatory-every time you went to the doctor, dentist, blood bank, or signed up for a new job or public assistance or a new apartment-everybody gets tested, and everybody gets tested repeatedly. Once you have your test results, you're given a card that clearly states your status. Those that were infected could still have relatively normal lives as long as they followed the rules-no sex with uninfected people, no sharing needles with uninfected people, etc. Those that didn't follow the rules would go to jail for the rest of their lives, or be given a very obvious "brand" to warn other people. Children born with HIV would be educated from their earliest years on how to avoid spreading the disease, and would be expected to take responsibility for their illness, just like everybody else. Within a couple of generations, HIV would go back to being almost non-existent, if not completely wiped out.
Of course, this will never happen, because there are too many people who would have some protest against it. Oh, it's "discriminatory"-wel l, no, not really, since everybody would get tested. Oh! It's too expensive! Err...nope, it's cheaper to test for HIV than it is to treat it for years and years. It would cause people to discriminate against HIV positive people! Again, no-as long as they follow the rules, there's no discrimination involved. If they don't, though, by all means, discriminate! They've already proven they can't be trusted!
So, that's Glen's solution. It won't happen, but it's a nice thought.

I thought we already spend a ridiculous sum on money on this lifestyle disease already?

I am please to provide a few simple no cost remedies to preventing most if not all new AIDS cases:

1. Don't do drugs so you won't ever have to worry about getting it from sharing a needle.
2. If you have the disease don't have sex with other people and you will never spread the disease.

Of course both of these no cost remedies require a little thing called taking "personal responsibility".

This is a classic piece of propoganda. A test for HIV is nothing more than an antibody test which cross reacts with 70 different issues including pregnancy, and oops wouldn't you know it. Where are most of these tests being taken? In low income prenatal clinics. The HIV virus has never, ever been isolated so what does the test predict? It predicts how gullible the populace is at accepting big pharma drugs that are really killing these people--look at the death certificates, liver failure, kidney failure. These are not one of the so called 29 diseases that make up the so called AIDS crisis. This is genocide by stupidity. The African American community has been suckered again. First it was Pellagra, the Syphilis and now HIV which is not AIDS. HIV can be completed eradicated because it is nothing but a non specific antibody blood test. If you get a + antibody test, run to the nearest holistic practitioner, because the medical system is going to kill you. Make sure they repeat the test multiple times. What is needed will never be allowed by the democrats.
Do away with welfare. Stop paying kids to have babies. Make the kids and the parents pay the delivery costs and support the child. Kids will soon learn that having sex at 13 and 14 is playing with fire. Illegitmacy will drop like a stone... along with STDs. As long as there are few serious consequences, kids will have a sex, with or without condoms ... and all the programs money can buy will have a neglible effect.

We see similar rates of HIV/AIDS in Sub-Sahara Africa, and also in some African communities in South America, Europe, and Central America. Some one needs to search for a common thread -- something that ties all of these extraordinary cases together, and then attack that specific cause. Surely there are scientists who are looking into such matters.

Promiscuity and drugs ... a deadly combination

AIDS could be ended, if they just change their behavior.

Let's take that money for the Hartford Aids program and spend it on the US Air Force. A plane could fly over Hartford dropping leaflets in English that lets the folks that can read know when the next plan (a B52 Bomber) is going to fly over Hartford. We might as well address the crime issue along with the AIDS issue.
