Saudis campaign to be seen as vacation hot spot

Saudi Arabia seems an unlikely destination for fun in the sun. Yet here was a Saudi prince at a tourism conference in neighboring Dubai, busily trying to sell his country as a vacation spot -- provided visitors ...

Poor King Abdullah...a pipe dream. This is absurd. Saudi Arabia as a tourist attraction.....yea right. Just wonder if Chop Chop Square will be on the tourist itinerary.

Yeah let's party like it's 1399!!!

It's not going to happen until they get realistic about visa restrictions. I'd check it out but getting a visa is a major pain in the you know where.

I want to see the Kabbah

Saudi Arabia as a tourist desitnation?? You gotta be kidding me! Women are treated worse than camels. I can't imagine my wife having to dress like a ghost with her head and face covered as to not offend her "hosts". Chriatians couldn't go to church on Sundays and Jews are not even allowed to enter that racist apartheid nation.

I'll book two weeks in HELL before I'd consider going to a place like Saudi Arabia.

we have very nice placec and friendly people
in saudi arabia you can find the most beautiful deserts and mountains and seas
What's a matter? don't make enough cash on the oil?? Don't have enough victums to kidnap?? Trying to cleanse the inbred blood lines??
Saudi Arabia as a vacation spot?? for who.. terrorists, wife beaters, sterilization doctors, land mine sweepers... who??
I think vacationing in the green zone of Iraq would be safer.

Oh boy, I can't wait to tell my wife that we're going to a really hot place and she has to cover her head so she doesn't offend MEN.

I can't wait to arrive at a toruist destination that has institutionalized racism and religious intolerance. Sounds like fun!
Sorry dear, you're not allowed to drive a car...the Saudis are so understanding when it comes to women's rights.

Then after a full day in the hot sun, with my wife sweating like a camel, we can go out for a drink and get arrested by the religious police.

Party like it's 1399...Now that's a good one!!

You are trying real hard, aren't you? Forget it, Saudi Arabia will never become a tourist attraction, trust me. Not ever.

IF you are a woman in Saudi Arabia, which I don't believe, but if you are, I feel pity for you. We can't control where we are born, you have my sympathy.

That wonderful REEM...what kind of car do you drive?

How many Christians and Jews do you know?

Can you do anything without your husband's approval?

Are your asian "guest" workers permitted to leave your home?

I lived in Saudi Arabia for five years.......I am an American woman. If I didn't cover my face in certain souks I was smacked on the leg with a stick by a muttawa. I would even have my hair covered and would be wearing my abaya and I would be with my husband. You are right, woman can drive in the small villages but not in the cities with the men.

I agree with you that there are many beautiful places in the desert but the treatment of women and the "hired help" is ludicrous.

I can't imagine anyone desiring to go to Saudi Arabia for a holiday....for an education on how repressive some people in the world have to live, perhaps.

Jews are not allowed in Saudi Arabia. Non Muslims are not welcomed and take a great risk to enter. I know plenty of people that have served there in the armed forces. There are many Saudi woman that have escaped that life and written books.

You sure are working hard to defeat that horrible image, hope you are getting paid well for it.

This is where I would have grabbed his stick and broke it over his head.

for your information i study sociology and i know my society well so i just tell you about the right image about my society and i don`t want anybody to pay to me because i love my country more than my self
Maybe but thier entry is almost always on a work related visa. With all due respect reem you make it sound as though getting a Saudi visa is unrestricted which just isn't true. Even if you are a Moslem and want to make the Haj there are restrictions simply based on which Moslem country you're from. Try being a Shia Persian and get a visa for Haj. Those Haj numbers are much more limited as opposed to if you are Sunni/Wahabbi.

The fact is until Saudi elitism and selectivity is removed from the visa issuance process, tourism will never flourish there because it's massivly prejudicial.

Following the lead of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the US government has decided to open Guantanamo Bay, Camp Delta to tourism. A spokesperson for the US Government stated: "If people think Suadi Arabia is fun, just wait until they get to our little corner of Cuba." Palm trees, beaches but no deserts.

Tourists are required to wear orange pajamas. Each member of the family is given his or her own room. Three meals are served daily. If you are a moslem tourist, particularly from Saudi Arabia, you will be given a prayer rug and Hallal meals for your enjoymnet.
You will feel right at home if you are a woman! You can't do anything without permission from your "guard". You will not be allowed to drive a car, drink alcohol or speak unless spoken to!
Have fun!!

reem, palestininans cannot be from palestine, as there is no such place in history as palestine. palestine comes from the word philistine, the last known ancestory of said people.

"Palestinians" are from:
Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, UAE. Kiwait, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia etc.

Most arrived in the region looking for work, after the Zionists turned the swamps and deserts into productive land.

I toured Saudi Arabia a few years back. Absolutely fascinating place. The hotels are five star and there's a lot to see.
