Disney to close Pleasure Island's six nightclubs

That's sad... I had my first legal drink there.

What are the OTHER three nightclubs which are closing?

Comedy Club, Motions, and Adventures Club.
I am very upset, I really cannot deal with the smoke in the clubs downtown. |

What does the mouse house expect. They are a victim of their own fate. It never fit into the wholesome Disney image. It ended up being a place where employees would go and give their paychecks back. Unfortunately during the growth period of Michael Eisner, the quality of employee recruited was lowered in order to staff the new theme parks, hotels, etc. That quality of employee made P.I and unattractive experience to the guests on property so they went elsewhere for their after hour entertainment.

More homeogized family fun entertainment in an area the was designed for "adult" fun.

I don' t think that it's closing some areas due to not being a "family" place since it's "Disney".. I think cause it's not as good as Universal City Walk, and they know that they have some tough competition now...

What clubs downtown? You mean the beer gardens on Orange Avenue that are filled with goths and freaks? |
|
|
Citywalk whopped their behind.

This is really sad. The clubs were great fun after hours not only for tourists but for us locals. I'm in shock really. I expected they'd close a few more to retool the area but places like Mannequins are landmarks and very popular. I can't believe they close that up. I seriously hope they reconsider.

I remember Mannequins when it use to be the best night club in Orlando. I still go there like once a year, but it's never packed anymore. Or I just go on the worng night. Anyway, I'm going to miss that place. Can't believe they are shutting it down. I guess things never last forever.

I mean any club in Orlando, At least in New York you can go to a clean, non smoking club that have a decent clientel.

Good riddance to those overpriced meat markets for drugged up and drunk young idiots. best decision Disney could make!

Great, lets bring the trash back to downtown Orlando where it belongs. Over valued condos and thugs on the street equals (Orlando The City Beautiful).

Patrons think Disney needs more dining & retail??? Disney has plenty of those options.

Save the Adventurer's Club.
That is all. |

"A giant tethered balloon" = Disney's answer to the Great Wheel.
Pleasure Island deteriorated as it has because that was the plan - bleed it and close it. More family and tourist fun from the rat that runs metropolitan Orlando! |

What becomes of the annual pass I bought last month???

Mannequins is empty most nights. Recently on a Friday I saw 5 people in this giant club. Employees outnumbered guests. 8-trax however still seemed crowded most nights. Can't believe they are closing.

All I can say is...KUNGALOOSH!!!
Least the actors, bartenders, et cetera have 3 months notice. Hope they find a new home for their talent...they're a pleasure to watch! I have sooo many fond memories of PI, I think I'll definitely be at the Adventurer's Club closing night. Who cares how crowded it'll be. Disneyland's Downtown Disney doesn't have any clubs, so I wonder if that had any influence on ours...like they saw they've done fine without clubs elsewhere, so cut ours. Still a shock, though, I know some were closing, but I thought the comedy ones were safe and Mannequins was expanding to 8-trax. I guess not. So anyone have any PI wish list? I would love to see a Dave and Busters, but I think that would be a better replacement for DisneyQuest if that ever closes. |
