Full story: The York Daily Record

And it only took 8 years to get this far. Why do they want to spend 10's of millions of dollars for a national park? Are they going to do this everything we have an Islamic terrorist attack?

That sure is a lot of money. While I do think that something should be done there to recognize those who died and what happened that day, I think that something more modest could do just as much for the survivors. We cannot put up memorials everywhere every time something happens.

i agree with you. from everything i've heard and read, most of the "let's roll" story is supposition, and the usa was in real need of a hero. i think the air force shot down that plane. not a popular view; but in any case i still feel that it was the correct decision on the governments part. just tell the truth to us. we're big people-we can handle it.

I don't blame the government for doing it. It's just Bs with this propaganda. The wreckage scattered over miles suggests it was shot down. People just dint want to believe that the government played a role in the events of 9/11. Also it's a huge waste of money to build this especially in the middle of no where. I would have loved to be the farmer who got the sweet deal to sell otherwise cheap land for top dollar.

not sure if gov. had to even buy that land. doesn't the right of eminant domain play a part? they can take what they want, when then want it, anytime they want to,. all for "securities sake" or some other dumb excuse they seem to come up with to confiscate land.

Not just that but they bascially blackmailed the landowners too. I don't really think that's what the people who had the balls to stand up to these sand homies would've wanted as their remembrance. They were fighting for freedom, not for government takeover.

Even under eminent domain they must pay fair market value.

and who decides what the fair market value? eminent domain - governmental RIGHT to TAKE private land(at a fair market price) to use that land as public use is nothing more than legalized theft. the private land owner is FORCED to give up his land. There is no option for him.no right to protect what is his, no defense allowed. doesn't this go against our rights?

If the land owner decides that the price ofered is not a fair price, the case goes to court where a board made up of real estate people will look at the facts and decide a fair price. Even this can be appealed and eventually end up with a jury trial.

This gives the land owner the ILLUSION of rights. You have NO rights when you go against the government.
2200 acres is absolutely ludicrous. These people didn't not die in order for another corrupt organization to force someone else to do something against their will.

you are incorrect. because even if it does go to a trial, the ONLY thing that would be at issue is the "fair price" for that land. The homeowner HAS NO RIGHT TO KEEP HIS LAND IF THE GOV DECIDES THEY WANT IT.

When put that way, I cannot argue at all. If the Government wants it badly enough, they will get it after all it is not their money they are spending. It comes from some bottomless tax barrel that you and I keep filling for them.
