Whale of an offer: Buy SeaWorld, free animals

Forget about freeing just Willy. An animal-rights group says a supporter wants to buy one or more SeaWorlds from the theme parks' soon-to-be new owner so it can free all the animals, even killer whales.

REALLY, and do you realize that sea world is a partner in giving quite a few of the animals that cannot be returned to the wild due to some kind of problem, not only that but is this person willing to stand by and watch a number of these animals starve to death as they were born in captivity and do not know how to take care of themselves, sea world does provide a valuable service in taking in injured and sick animals and using their facilities and their vets and staff and monies to rehabiliate as many of these animals as possible to return to the wild and the ones that can't live out their lives amoung loving caring people and given a job so as not to feel that they are worthless, i just have a hard time listening to a group that thinks i should not be allowed to raise my own animals for my own consumption and that i need to be a vegitarian, i like meat and it was a major reason we all are not still back in the stone age as the protein provided by eating meat is a large part of why we are at the top of the food chain, i do have a problem with the way that quite a few of these places that provide meat for the table don't do it responsibily and take care to slaughter animals humanely

Gotta love PETA! This is the same group that tried to get the town of Fishkill, NY to change its naming, claiming that the name of the town evoked images of cruelty to fish. Not one of their "illustrious" members bothered to research the name of the town and none of them knew that the word "kill" was the Dutch word for "stream/brook." Given their moronic antics in the past, and given the moronic ideas like this one, any good that PETA has ever achieved is forever lost amongst a sea of stupidity.

To Molly Rambo
Akron, MI

The majority of those animals are captured or born there. This doesn't need intense contemplation. How humane is it to keep mammals that migrate thousands of miles in the wild inside cages?

Worse yet, they try to force these animals to breed in those conditions. All for what?$$$$$ Its against nature.
Any help they give animals is minor.

While Peta has its issues, don't use your issues with them to disparage the overall movement against animal abuse.

PETA (Between 1998
and 2005, the very group that claims to advocate for animals' "rights"
killed over 14,400 dogs, cats, and other "companion animals." Since they
only took in about 17,800 animals, that amounts to a death rate of about
80 percent).

How utterly hilarious. It simply confirms that noone in PETA has an ounce of common sense. I can just imagine them dropping SW Orlando's 9 orcas (7 of whom were born in captivity and have never seen a live fish in their life) in the ocean and shouting 'go on, you're free!'. If they paid any attention to the Keiko story they would know that it's a lot more complicated than that. But then, being PETA, of course they wouldn't.

How ridiculous.
To release these animals at this stage would be utter cruelty. It may be less than ideal for them to be in captivity in some ways but its not cruel.
PETA have no common sense, but then no person with common sense would ever be involved with animal rights at all, animal welfare may be important but animal rights is just terrorism with a charity number.
PETA advocates should be locked up and banned from ever owning or approaching an animal for the rest of their lives.

I can only refer you to one website http://petakillsanimals.com/

I read the court case mentioned here and PETA is not an animal loving organization. Unfortunately some high profile celebrities think they are ... they want no animals at all. Just leave them to their own devices.

free the animals and replace them with virtual-reality or animatronic displays.
Let me tell you that will surely bring in millions of dollar in revenue.

Maybe we should go to the PETA people tear down their houses and let them go into the wild saying "Go be free from all the cruelty"
This is exactly what they are doing to the animals at sea world.
