That's all sweet and everything. But what a couple of knuckleheads! These kids are 23 and 21 and are going to raise a kid....on what? Let me guess, I have to pay taxes to support all their asses for the next HOW MANY years? Could we send the girl to Afghanistan as well? I guarantee you she'll have another baby in the next few years and will be paying for her groceries with good ol' food stamps while the proud papa will work on and off at odd jobs for the rest of his life, going around boasting about his glory days in Afghanistan when he was 23 ---> and I guarantee you people, that's the LAST contribution our society is gonna get out of any one of these two!

How dare you? You should be ashamed of yourself Donnie "Dorko" Now more importantly congrats to Army Spc Juan Leon his wife and to their beautiful son. God bless all of you.

To "And the beat goes on" and "Donnie Darko" who the hell do you think you are? Do you sons of bitches even know these people? I didn't think so. Who the hell are you two to make judgements like that?? I am proud to call Juan my best friend of sixteen years and Lorraine a very good friend of mine as well. As for Donnie Darko, maybe you should worry about paying for food with your own food stamps. I assure you that he will not "work on and off at odd jobs the rest of his life." I have always had the utmost repect for our military and more so now that my best friend is a part of it as well. It saddens me though that he has to fight for people like you as well to have the right to spew the garbage you have given us. I hope I never meet either of you two as I'm afraid I would only be able to spit in your face. Then again, would you even be worth it?

Er, I'm afraid ol' Juan isn't fighting for MY rights nor anyone else who is not heavily invested in US oil conglomerates. Me, I'm p'd off that private businesses are allowed to use our military (at no cost to them) to invade foreign countries to take ownership of natural resources. I think this is a crime and should not be supported by our taxes. Let the oil companies pay for their own invasion/security force--course they'd have to fly it by the UN first. Hopefully, cooler heads would prevail. Just where does this all end? Suppose I wanted to invade Iran so I could take ownership of all its oil reserves. Could I "borrow" the US military to do the dirty work for me?

Hey, Flounder, tell Juan thanks for serving in the military and give Lorraine and the baby a kiss for me. I hope that you will step up and be there for them when your friend returns to the hell hole. God bless.

To "and the beat goes on," you completely misunderstood my post. I am against the war as much as anyone. However, my issue was with your first post insulting my friends, who I'm glad never have to come into contact with you.

I can certainly apprecitate a dad wanting to be present for the birth of his child, but these are some of the things our dedicated military give up when they are deployed. This young soldier is blessed that he was able to get home, but what about all of the others who miss out on these events. I do not think it is fair to let one come home and deny others. My son is a Marine who is deployed overseas right now. I can not count the times his fellow marines and he missed being home for events such as births, deaths, and anything in between. Newsday makes the military leaders out to be inconsiderate SOBs. But if they released everyone who had something special going on in their lives, no one would be left to defend our country. You can't have it both ways. If you don't want to miss out, you should not be in the military. God bless all of them who "bite the bullet" and do their jobs without complaining. They are all heroes in my book.

I agree... He didnt HAVE to come home... Other families dont get the privledge of coming home when theyre family member gives birth, dies, etc. If you wanted to fight the war... Keep it in your pants til' you get back. I know your afraid you may not get back, but how can you support a child when your not even here? Brains new soilders! brains!

They let people come home all the time in the military there not having babies all at once and the red cross brings them home when someone dies they just have to go through the proper channels to request it. Maybe the ones missing these things just don't want to go through all of that for two weeks. This was a special circumstance the baby was in danger. God Bless these two people.

Nice to be home, but the truth of the matter is..... This soldier's rythem/sinc was broken for a little r&r. It will be much more difficult and dangerous on his return and getting back into swing of things. Depending on where he was, the convoy from/back again is place where you don't want to be. Most politicians should be like a fish....won't get into trouble if just kept their mouth closed.
