it is what it is.

Ok and to that I say prove there is a bias in these sources. |
Actually, you are wrong... http://www.abwh.org/ http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/... |
Oh definitely. Historians choose what they see as relevant. Oftentimes, due to whatever reasons, many of the facts are left out or glanced over quickly. |

Founded in 1979, the Association of Black Women Historians (ABWH). that's 9 years after i was born, i'm talking about HISTORY, not recent memory. Carter G. Woodson, however, would be sad to know that out of all the hundreds of Black men and women who produced so many substantial inventions (from the development of crop rotation, the traffic light, the mail box, gas mask, fountain pen, typewriter, telegraph, golf tee, automatic gear shift, commode toilet--- to the method of dry cleaning clothes, the electric lamp, and the automatic car coupler and air brake for the railroad) benefiting this country, only four Black inventors have been inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in Akron, Ohio. where does it say he wrote HISTORY books that are being taught in our schools today? like i said, black people did not write those books. |

These include such notables as Arthur Schomburg, John Wesley Cromwell, Kelly Miller, J.A. Rogers, John Henrik Clarke, Dr. Ben Jochannon, John Jackson, Drusilla Dunjee Houston, among others. One would be remiss if the names of Charles H. Wesley, Monroe Nathan Work, Merl R. Eppse, C.L.R. James, George Padmore, and George G.M. James were not mentioned in such an account. And of course the professional ranks of Black historians would be incomplete without the giants Rayford W. Logan, William Sherman Savage, Lorenzo Greene, Luther P. Jackson, Benjamin Quarles, Lawrence Reddick, William Brewer, Clinton E. Knox, Eric Williams and John Hope Franklin. |

who? |
I guess you answer proves there aren't many books written by Black historians and writers in mainstream circulation. Maybe we need to expand our reading to get a different perspective of history. |
Are you saying you can name the equivalent amount of white historians off the top of your head without looking it up? I would very much like to see that done... |
There was no insult intended. I was impressed. Re-read my response. As for White historians off the top of my head: Michael Stephenson, David McCullough, Michael Wood, Thomas Cahill, Alan Westin, Walter Lord, Robert Gallagher. Need I write more? I said maybe reading others' works would give us another perspective on history. What didn't you understand about my post? |
I thought you were challenging those names. Sorry I misunderstood. Very impressive actually. I do agree we should integrate more cultural history into our education btw but I don't agree that almost ALL of our history is false because of potential biases. Sorry, no harm intended :) |
Thanks. I was impressed with your knowledge of so many historians. And I agree that most historians try to be as accurate as possible. History was my first major in college - many years ago! Peace and blessings. |
