In another manifestation of Arab Anti-Semitism, a conspiracy theory in Saudi Arabia alleges that Barbie dolls are Jewish toys that are offensive to Islam and a threat to morality. According to media reports, Saudi Arabia's religious police have declared Barbie dolls a threat to morality, complaining that the revealing clothes of the "Jewish" doll are offensive to Islam.

A spokesman for the Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Saudi Arabia claimed that Barbie was modeled after a real-life Jewish woman. The dolls are listed on a section of the Committee's Web site devoted to items deemed offensive to the conservative Saudi interpretation of Islam.

"Jewish Barbie dolls, with their revealing clothes and shameful postures, accessories and tools are a symbol of decadence to the perverted West. Let us beware of her dangers and be careful," said a message posted on the site. A spokesman for the Committee said the campaign against Barbie — banned for more than 10 years — coincides with the start of the school year to remind children and their parents of the doll's negative qualities.

In April 2001, several Saudi Arabian religious leaders made a similar allegation against the popular Pokeman children's game, claiming the trading cards were actually part of a "Zionist conspiracy" to lure Muslim children into gambling and other "immoral" activities. ADL denounced the accusation as "outrageous and incendiary."

Yes, I do! And I had one, too! I really liked her. She had some really cool clothes! She got sold with my other childhood toys.

I was tall and skinny as a kid and I even had the "Pixie" haircut, my friends used to call me Twiggy lol

The only 2 dolls of mine that I kept were Mary Poppins and Chrissy with the hair you could make grow. I just couldn't keep everything my mom had stored - my parents were hardcore pack rats!

I also kept my mom's Shirley Temple doll from the '30s. Unfortunately, she needs to go to a doll hospital for some serious surgery, so she is not as valuable as a collectible as she should be, but she has sentimental value galore!

One thing I found out when selling my toys was that toy collectors, including Barbie collectors, are very nice people!:)

This one really takes the cake!!! I don't think Barbie is really hurting anyone. In a way it's good that kids learn to look their best even if they don't look like some manufactured beauty.
The little girls whose parents devote their lives to winning beauty contests in some cases are worse than a freakin' doll.The little girls are beautiful, I give them that.(Don't approve of some of the dance routines though) But what little girl isn't beautiful? Beauty is only skin deep.
